  • Publication number: 20050210722
Abstract: A foldable electronic display, also known as a variable or changeable message sign, displays important or emergency messages for the control of roadway and highway traffic. The self-contained foldable electronic display is lightweight and portable and can be handled and setup easily and quickly by one person, on a multiplicity of structures. The display may be stowed in the luggage compartment of highway maintenance and emergency response vehicles in a folded orientation when not in use. During use, the display displays a stored or newly created message. A software lockout feature prevents the message from being changed using on-board controls by unauthorized personnel, eliminating the need for mechanical security measures. An optional mounting bracket apparatus assures that the foldable electronic display is held in an open orientation. The mounting bracket apparatus is installed in a manner that is tamperproof and does not allow unauthorized access to mounting hardware.

  • Patent number: 5216785
Abstract: A tie fastener for securing a necktie to a shirt is disclosed. The tie fastener includes three strips of flexible material joined together at one end. Each strip is identical to the others. An inner strip is buttoned to a shirt and an outer strip is fed through the loop-label of the tie. An intermediate strip is interposed between the inner and outer strips and serves to cover a shirt button and prevent the loop-label of the tie from catching on the button.

  • Patent number: 4683610
Abstract: An extension for a handle of a tool or similar device includes a hollow cylindrical shaped tube formed with a series of circumferentially spaced slots that provide intervening strips of tube material adjacent to but spaced from an open end of the tube. A manually operated clamping band encircles the strips of tube material and clamps the strip against a handle inserted into the tube bore. A second pair of circumferentially spaced slots and intervening strips of the material may be formed adjacent to the first series of strips and is encircled by another clamp for increasing the grip on a handle inserted into the tube.
