  • Patent number: 10955182
Abstract: A dynamic packing system places one or more perishable items into a shipping container and dispenses thermal control components therein. There is a data processor and a database including one or more order data set each defined at least by an itemized list of purchased perishable items and an order shipment destination address. A network interface is connected to the data processor, and weather data is retrieved over the network interface from a remote source. A dispenser controlled by the data processor positions a specific amount of a thermal control component in the shipping container. The specific amount is based upon an evaluation of one or more temperature values corresponding to the weather data along a transport route of the shipping container.

  • Publication number: 20060289268
Abstract: A coupling device (11;111) including a rotatable housing (13,15;113) defining a clutch cavity and a clutch assembly (29;129) disposed therein. The housing defines an apply chamber (37;137) and a clutch apply member (39) disposed therein to bias the clutch assembly into engagement. A source of pressurized fluid for the clutch apply member comprises a pumping element (59,61;159,161) operable to pump pressurized fluid in response to rotation of a rotor (61;161). There is a stationary plenum assembly (51;153) defining a pumping chamber, and the pumping element is operably disposed within the pumping chamber, and a drive means (63;163) is operable to transmit rotational movement of the rotatable housing (13,15;113) to said rotor (61;161) of the pumping element, such that clutch engagement is not dependent upon coupling input-to-output speed differential.

  • Publication number: 20050026733
Abstract: A torque transfer assembly for a motor vehicle comprises a ring gear subassembly and a differential subassembly rotatably supported in said ring gear subassembly, a friction clutch pack for coupling the ring gear subassembly to the differential subassembly, and a hydraulic clutch actuator for selectively frictionally loading the clutch pack. The hydraulic clutch actuator includes a variable pressure relief valve assembly to selectively control the friction clutch pack. The variable pressure relief valve assembly includes a valve closure member, a valve seat complementary to the valve closure member, and a electromagnetic actuator for engaging the valve closure member and urging thereof against the valve seat with an axial force determined by a magnitude of an electric current supplied to the electromagnetic actuator so as to selectively vary a release pressure of the pressure relief valve assembly based on the magnitude of the electric current.
