Abstract: A document processor and method of use are disclosed. In one aspect, a document processor includes a path of travel of a document, a magnetic ink character reader, and an image scanner. The magnetic ink character reader is located along the path of travel and positioned to read magnetic characters printed on a document passing along the path of travel. The image scanner is located along the path of travel and oriented to capture an image of a surface of a document passing along the path of travel. The document processor also includes at least one drive mechanism located along the path of travel and configured to guide a document along the path of travel in a first direction during operation of the magnetic ink character reader, and further configured to guide the document along the path of travel in a second direction opposite the first direction during operation of the image scanner.

Abstract: A document scanner and associated feedback mechanism are disclosed. The document scanner includes a document bed including a document positioning surface, and a scanning module slidably connected to the document bed, the scanning module manually movable across the document positioning surface. The document scanner further includes a feedback mechanism arranged to receive information about a speed of movement of the scanning module, and output a feedback signal to a user of the document scanner.

Abstract: A document scanner is disclosed. The document scanner includes a document bed having a surface to position a document. The document bed includes a slot in which a presentment apparatus is positioned. The presentment apparatus includes a first rigid layers a second compressible layer, and a third lower friction layer. A method of use of the document scanner is disclosed as well.

The document processing system includes one or more document guide components defining a path of travel of documents, the path of travel of documents including an intersection portion. The document processing system also includes a component repositioning element at the intersection portion of the path of travel of documents, the component repositioning element arranged to align a document processing component with a portion of the path of travel in which a document resides.

Abstract: A document processing system includes a feeder stage, a transport stage, and a retractable mechanism cooperating with a portion of the document track. An assertable member is arranged with respect to the document track such that assertion of the member causes retraction of the opposed track walls in the cooperating portion of the document track by retracting a first base member from a second base member. An imaging assembly is composed of an imaging device and an image glass. The image glass is positioned as one side of the document track at the retractable mechanism. In the retracted state, the imaging assembly is retracted to provide access to the imaging device and the document track.
