  • Patent number: 5588140
Abstract: A system for extending a communications link between a host computer and peripheral device provides true emulation of the peripheral data storage device. The system includes a host extender for communicating directly with the host computer and a peripheral extender for communicating directly with the peripheral device. The host attached and peripheral extenders communicate across the extended communications link. The host extender initially transmits a channel program to the peripheral extender. The system uses the channel program to obtain format information of a particular track of the peripheral device. The host extender stores this format information and uses it to emulate the peripheral device to the host computer.

  • Patent number: 4547810
Abstract: A portable facsimile transmitter suitable for use by reporters and photographers in the field, for sending high quality pictures to an unattended remote receiver, by telephone or wireless. A rotating drum to which the original is affixed is initially scanned at a rapid rate to establish the photodetector operating level so as to maximize the signal dynamic range. After the initial scan the picture is scanned at one of three selectable rates (determined by setting the drum speed), and the video output of the photodetector is modulated and coupled to the transmission line. The original is affixed to the drum by means of a fixed (with respect to the drum) clamp and a movable clamp at each end thereof. A tab extends from an end of each clamp, and the position of each tab is sensed to provide a synchronization signal so that the picture is centered at the remote receiver.

  • Patent number: 4138838
Abstract: A locking mechanism for the height adjusting suspension system of side delivery rake is disclosed. A support trunnion bearing for the rotatable axially-adjustable height control rod of a rake has at least one crown thereon to cooperatively engage a mating washer which is biased into contact therewith by a compression suspension spring to thereby impede relative rotational movement between the rod and the bearing.
