  • Patent number: 10746284
Abstract: A gearbox for a rotary wing aircraft including a sump, a primary lubricant reservoir fluidically connected to the sump, one or more primary lubricant jets fluidically connected to the primary lubricant reservoir, an auxiliary lubricant reservoir fluidically connected to the sump, one or more auxiliary lubricant jets fluidically connected to the auxiliary lubricant reservoir, and at least one valve selectively fluidically connecting the sump and the primary lubricant reservoir based on a first lubricant pressure and the sump and the auxiliary lubricant reservoir based on a second lubricant pressure at the at least one valve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 19, 2016
Date of Patent: August 18, 2020
    Assignee: SIKORSKY AIRCRAFT CORPORATION
Inventors: Yuriy Gmirya, Thomas L. Sbabo, John H. Meeson, Jr., Rodger W. Bowman
  • Patent number: 10247273
Abstract: A composite wrap is provided for damping vibration in an elongated quill shaft having a cylindrical body. The composite wrap includes interior layering for disposition about a cylindrical body, exterior layering configured to define an exterior composite wrap shape and sequential cured-in-place, vibration damping, fibrous epoxy layers. The sequential cured-in-place, vibration damping, fibrous epoxy layers are radially interposed between the interior and exterior layering to dampen vibrations of and/or to adjust a resonance frequency of the cylindrical body.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 2016
Date of Patent: April 2, 2019
    Assignee: SIKORSKY AIRCRAFT CORPORATION
Inventors: Jonathan Bremmer, Jeffrey G. Sauer, Robert A. Lacko, Shihong G. Song, John H. Meeson, Jr.

  • Publication number: 20160243609
Abstract: A composite core for forming a passage in an investment casting mold is provided including a generally hollow structural element. The structural element is configured to deform when a force is applied to an end thereof. A rigid shell element is formed about the structural element. The shell element extends beyond both an interior surface and an exterior surface of the structural element. The shell element is configured to shatter when the structural element deforms.

Inventors: Shihong G. Song, James S. Giampapa, John H. Meeson, JR.
  • Patent number: 9212679
Abstract: A connection between a first component and a second component is provided including a first hole formed in a portion of the first component and a second hole formed in a portion of the second component. The second hole is aligned with the first hole. A pin includes a through hole having a pin hole diameter. The pin extends through a portion of the first hole and into a first portion of the second hole. The pin is configured to absorb a shear load applied to the connection. A bolt extends through the second hole and the pin such that a clearance fit is formed between the bolt and the pin. The bolt is configured to absorb an axial load applied to the connection. A nut connected to the free end of the bolt limits movement of the bolt relative to the first and second component.
