Patent number: 11986179Abstract: Devices and methods for minimally invasive suturing are disclosed. One suturing device for minimally invasive suturing includes a proximal section a distal end, and an intermediate region therebetween. The device includes a suture head assembly having a suturing needle with a pointed end and a second end. The suturing needle is capable of rotating about an axis approximately perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the device, wherein the pointed end of the suturing needle is positioned within the suture head assembly prior to deployment of guides that are adapted and configured to guide the needle around a circular path when advanced by a drive mechanism having a needle driver for engaging and rotating the suturing needle.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2020Date of Patent: May 21, 2024Assignee: Intuitive Surgical Operations, Inc.Inventors: Gerald I. Patent number: 5860196Abstract: A device for reducing stress on a grommet of a flexible covering including a stress distributing member with a recess formed in the outer surface thereof and a connecting loop mounted on the member at the recess and extending outwardly therefrom. The stress distributing member forms a bar for reducing stress on an end or side grommet or forms a semi-circular wedge for reducing stress on a corner grommet. The recess is sized for receipt of a grommet therein and presents a rounded surface at its perimeter to prevent the grommet from becoming pinched or collapsing. The loop receives the securing rope or other tie therethrough. The force on the loop is distributed by the bar or wedge over an extended portion of the flexible covering. A combination of bar and wedge stress distributing members form a system for reducing stress on the plurality of grommets within a flexible covering.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1997Date of Patent: January 19, 1999Inventor: John H. Murray, Jr.

Patent number: 5654867Abstract: An electrical impulse-type immobilization weapon having both the capability for launching two tethered electrodes at a remote target, as well as for contacting, by means of two spaced apart contacts, a target located immediately adjacent the weapon. Furthermore, the present invention provides a novel manner for indicating whether or not launched projectiles have indeed impacted the target and have enabled the target to be subjected to an electrical impulse by establishing a current between the two projectile electrodes on the target surface. Furthermore, the present invention provides a sighting capability to increase the accuracy of target impact at a remote location. The sighting capability is provided herein by a pair of solid state laser devices mounted mechanically to the immobilization weapon in a manner which provides an accurate indication of the likely impact points for the remotely launched projectiles on a remote target.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1996Date of Patent: August 5, 1997Assignee: Barnet ResnickInventor: John H. Patent number: 5628138Abstract: A fishing lure comprises an artificial lure having a mouth portion for securement of a fishing line thereto. The artificial lure has a slot therein communicating with an internal body cavity. A spring member having normal and flexed conditions is positioned in the cavity. A hook member is secured to the spring member within the slot and extends from the slot when the spring member is in its flexed condition.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1996Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Inventor: John H. Murray, Jr.

Patent number: 5227214Abstract: A cleated dust control mat having a plurality of rows of elliptical cleats located at an angle to the border of the mat with the cleats in each row being parallel to the other cleats in the row and being substantially perpendicular to the cleats in the next adjacent rows of cleats. A second set of small circular cleats is located between the elliptical cleats in each row equally spaced from adjacent elliptical cleats in each row.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1992Date of Patent: July 13, 1993Assignee: Milliken Research CorporationInventors: Robert C. Kerr, John H. Murray

Patent number: 4902465Abstract: A cleated dust control mat having a rubber or rubber-like backing in which the longitudinal edges of the rubber-like backing projecting outward from the pile surface thereon is smooth and thicker than the body of the rubber or rubber-like backing material. The thicker edges are produced by using a perforated silicone pad which is narrower than the desired width and has beveled edges thereon to provide a curved transition therein between the body and the longitudinal edges of the backing material.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1988Date of Patent: February 20, 1990Assignee: Milliken Research CorporationInventors: Robert C. Kerr, John H. Murray
