    Abstract: A permanent magnet electrical machine includes a plurality of groups of permanent magnets which are magnetically coupled by a surrounding generally cylindrical housing of magnetic material. The magnets have flat, parallel, spaced pole faces and are arranged side by side with pole faces of the same polarity from the axis of the housing. An armature is rotatably mounted in the housing within the magnets.
