  • Patent number: 5871247
Abstract: A wheel puller for handling a heavy wheel assembly. The puller comprises a beam having one end for securing a heavy wheel assembly thereto, and an opposite end having a weight member connected thereto. The weight member has a mass comparable to the wheel assembly. At a location intermediate the beam ends, the hook of a lifting device is received.

  • Patent number: 5549973
Abstract: A metal or alloy nanoparticle is provided which exhibits hysteresis at room temperature having a carbon coating. The nanoparticle has a diameter in the range of approximately 0.5 to 50 nm, and may crystalline or amorphous. The metal, alloy, or metal carbide nanoparticle is formed by preparing graphite rods which are packed with the magnetic metal or alloy. or an oxide of the metal or alloy. The packed graphite rods are subjected to a carbon arc discharge to produce soot containing metal, alloy, or metal carbide nanoparticles and non-magnetic species. The spot is subsequently subjected to a magnetic field gradient to separate the metal, alloy, or metal carbide nanoparticles from the non-magnetic species.

  • Patent number: 4817227
Abstract: A user-powered body scrubber for use in a tub or shower. It includes at least one elongated vertical guide member, and brackets for mounting the guide member outwardly from the wall in spaced, parallel relation to the wall. A brush carriage is fitted to the vertical member in slidably captive relation for movement vertically along the guide member. At least one circular brush is carried by the brush carriage for rotation about an axis perpendicular to such movement along the guide member. A friction roller or rack-and-pinion arrangement causes the brush to rotate in response to said movement along the guide member.

  • Patent number: 4524710
Abstract: An automatic trim circuit for hydrofoil craft which compensates for offsets in the system due to manufacturing and assembly tolerances and wear of parts. This is achieved by integrating an error signal derived by comparison of a reference signal with an actual position signal and applying the integrated output, after amplification, to one or more servo systems which actuate the control surfaces of the hydrofoil craft.

  • Patent number: 4505228
Abstract: A dog feeder for protecting and preserving food or fresh water to be made available upon self-initiated action of the dog includes a food or water vessel, an insect-isolating tray, and a closure for the vessel. The tray surrounds the vessel in the form of a moat. The vessel is thereby isolated from insects by water or other liquid contained within the tray. The closure is hinged to the vessel for being liftable by the dog's nose for permitting its access to the vessel's contents. A stop arrangement interengaging the closure and vessel limits lifting of the closure to a predetermined extent, thereby assuring of continued protection of the contents of the vessel even when the dog has obtained access to the vessel interior and assuring of subsequent closing of the closure under force of gravity.

  • Patent number: 4263876
Abstract: An animal feeder maintains animal feed in a protected condition until the feed is desired by an animal. As configured for usage, the feeder includes a feed container of dish character and a support structure supporting the container in a position to be approached by an animal. A cover is carried in hinging relationship for movement between positions covering and uncovering the container. When uncovered, the container is protected from the elements, but when uncovered permits the animal to feed from the feed container. A treadle surrounds at least a portion of the container for being stepped upon by an animal when in any of a plurality of locations near the container. The treadle is interconnected with the cover for causing movement to the open position in response to weight of the animal upon the treadle and for permitting the cover to close when the animal's weight is removed.

  • Patent number: 4182256
Abstract: An automatic takeoff control system for hydrofoil craft characterized in that the control surfaces of the craft are caused to automatically assume predetermined positions during takeoff, obviating the necessity for special levers, lever settings and special operator procedures which were involved in making a transition from hull-borne to foil-borne operation in accordance with prior art techniques.

  • Patent number: 4100877
Abstract: A protective system is provided for water-jet propulsion systems in which water entering through an intake port is discharged in a jet by a pump. Unloading and overspeed of the pump prime mover may occur if the intake comes out of the water and this is prevented by a system which senses the water pressure in the pump inlet and responds to the pressure and the rate of change of pressure to prevent overspeed of the prime mover by setting it to idling speed. When the pressure and rate of change indicate that the intake is again submerged, the prime mover is reset to normal operating control.
