  • Patent number: 9990853
Abstract: A material detection system mountable to a ground vehicle. The material detection system includes a first range determination system (RDS) that includes a first electromagnetic radiation (EMR) emitter configured to emit first EMR behind the ground vehicle within a first field of view (FOV), a first EMR receiver that is configured to receive first EMR reflections, and a first RDS processing device configured to generate first RDS data that identifies distances to reflective surfaces based on the first EMR reflections. A processing device is coupled to the first range determination system and is configured to determine, based at least in part on the first RDS data, that material exists on the road. The processing device is also configured to determine a location of the material, and cause the location to be communicated to a computing device that maintains a map that identifies locations of material larger than a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 9459694
Abstract: The position of a symbol presented on a visual display unit is selectively controlled by either physical movement information (e.g. mouse movement) or the user's gaze position. Rapid and/or significant change in determined gaze position to a position on the visual display unit followed by the determined gaze position lingering at the position will cause the system to use the user's gaze position to move the symbol else the physical movement information is used.

  • Patent number: 7233871
Abstract: A technique for developing an inspection program for a circuit board to be run on an AOI system includes determining a characteristic, such as average gray level, of each window of the circuit board. The positions of the windows are varied slightly to simulate expected errors in the placement of the windows relative to the circuit board. After varying the positions of the windows, the characteristic of each window is determined again. Different values of the characteristic corresponding to slightly different positions are compared for each window. Values that substantially change for a window indicate a strong sensitivity to position. These windows may be reported to a programmer for corrective action.

  • Publication number: 20060185960
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drive assembly including an adapter that enables the use of a lightweight backstopping clutch with a driven shaft. The adapter is coupled to the driven shaft for rotation therewith and forms a stub shaft smaller than the driven shaft. The clutch has an inner race that is disposed about the stub shaft and an outer race fixed against rotation so as to allow rotation of the stub shaft and driven shaft in one direction and inhibit rotation in an opposition direction.

  • Publication number: 20060002608
Abstract: A method for the automated analysis of digital images, particularly for the purpose of assessing the presence and severity of cancer in breast tissue based on the relative proportions of tubule formations and epithelial cells identified in digital images of histological slides. The method includes the step of generating a property co-occurrence matrix (PCM) from some or all of the pixels in the image, using the properties of local mean and local standard deviation of intensity in neighbourhoods of the selected pixels, and segmenting the image by labelling the selected pixels as belonging to specified classes based upon analysis of the PCM.
