  • Publication number: 20170127171
Abstract: Earphone apparatus includes at least one earphone driver operative to receive an input signal and mounted so as to deliver sound to a wearer's ear, and a sensing microphone sensitive to noise around the wearer's head but substantially insensitive to the sound generated by the at least one earphone driver. The earphone apparatus is configured to co-act with an existing remote noise cancellation device, the existing remote noise cancellation device being originally intended for the provision of feedback active control, to enable operation in a feed-forward configuration to effect noise reduction in sound delivered by the at least one earphone driver.

  • Publication number: 20050017087
Abstract: A body (30) having a conduit (38) adapted for fluid flow under high pressure includes a first passageway (32) having a first longitudinal (33) axis and second passageway (34) having a second longitudinal axis (35). The first and second longitudinal axes intersect each other at an angle. An enlarged generally spherical cavity (36) having a center point (42) at the intersection of the first and second longitudinal axes reduces stress on the walls of the conduit. Particular application is found in a fuel distribution system for an internal combustion engine.

  • Publication number: 20050010032
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel bacterial isolates identified by their 16S rRNA DNA, that cause periodontal disease in companion animals, polynucleotide sequences contained therein, polypeptides encoded by such polynucleotide sequences and vaccines comprising such bacteria, polynucleotides, or polypeptides. Also provided are methods for treating and preventing periodontal disease and kits for detecting and treating periodontal disease kits for detecting and preventing periodontal disease. In addition, methods for assessing the efficacy of a vaccine against periodontal diseases in an animal are provided.

  • Patent number: 6271728
Abstract: The present invention provides a new architecture for MMIC circuitry that allows reception of electronically selectable single polarity for simultaneous dual polarity/dual beam signals by phased-array modules. Additionally, an improved phase shifter design that is smaller and requiring fewer electronic components than prior art phase shifters is disclosed. In particular, the phase shifter requires only a single control line for each stage of the phase shifter.

  • Patent number: 6137377
Abstract: The present invention provides a new architecture for MMIC circuitry that allows reception of electronically selectable single polarity or simultaneous dual polarity/dual beam signals by placed-array modules. Additionally, an improved phase shifter design that is smaller said requiring fewer electronic components than prior art phase shifters is disclosed. In particular, the phase shifter requires only a single control line for each stage of the phase shifter.

  • Patent number: 5745159
Abstract: A distribution system for a passenger entertainment system (30) that provides appropriate in-line amplification and equalization of an entertainment signal carried on a common bus (40). The distribution system is comprised of a network of zone management units (ZMUs) (42a, 42b, . . . 42n) and seat electronics units (SEUs) (48a, 48b, . . . 48n) connected to the bus. Each ZMU contains a variable gain amplifier in series with the bus to amplify the entertainment signal carried on the bus. Each ZMU also contains a variable slope compensation network (84) that is continuously adjusted to equalize the amplitude of the entertainment signal across the signal bandwidth. Each SEU contains a variable gain amplifier in series with the bus to amplify the entertainment signal carried on the bus. Each SEU also contains a fixed slope compensation network (330) that may be switched in series with the bus to equalize the amplitude of the entertainment signal across the signal bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 5012668
Abstract: A chemical sensor for detecting a plurality of different chemical substances. A chemical sensor (100, 200) includes a substance sensitive SAW device (102, 202) and a reference SAW device (104, 204) formed on the same substrate (106). A plurality of interlaced fingers (112 and 114, 120 and 122; or 206 and 208, and 210 and 212) extend outwardly from the inclined source and output electrodes in parallel relationship with reach other. An RF pulse signal is applied to the inclined source electrodes in both the substance sensitive and reference SAW devices, causing surface acoustic waves to be generated that propagate perpendicularly away from the interlaced fingers toward the inclined output electrodes. A plurality of polymer coatings are applied in regions between the inclined source and output electrodes so that the surface acoustic waves generated by successive overlapped interlaced fingers propagate through different regions and coatings.

  • Patent number: 4028639
Abstract: An oscillator for operation in the frequency range from about 2 GHz to at least 18 GHz using a magnetostatic surface wave delay line as a frequency control element in a feedback loop connected around an amplifier. The oscillator is tunable by varying the magnetic field intensity at the magnetostatic surface wave propagating medium and by varying the distance between input and output rf couplers along the propagation surface.
