  • Publication number: 20060271382
Abstract: The present invention provides an entity projection in a client. The entity projection is an encapsulation of data, from an owning service, and residing on a consumer of that service. The entity projection provides an abstraction that conforms to an entity programming model on the consumer. The entity projection may illustratively include a subset of the properties of an entity in the owning service, the subset being only those properties required by the entity and those properties desired by the consumer.

  • Publication number: 20060271384
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for registering a service with an aggregation service, and storing data within the aggregate service. The process of registration is performed by a service explicitly notifying or being discovered by the aggregation service. In one embodiment there are four steps to the registration process. The first step is determining existence of a service and there are two ways this can happen, discovery and explicit notification. The second step of the process is metadata retrieval. Once the existence of the service is determined, the aggregation service attempts to retrieve relevant metadata about the service. The third step is setting up how the aggregation service is populated. If it is to be populated via a push synchronization, entity create, update, and delete event subscriptions are created with the service so it will push its data to the aggregation service.

  • Publication number: 20060112835
Abstract: An automatic basting apparatus includes a roasting pan having a food support surface and a chamber for receiving cooking fluids draining from food disposed on the support surface during a cooking operation. A supply tube mounted to the roasting pan communicates at one end with the chamber and has a spray nozzle disposed over the support surface. A container is disposed in the chamber is periodically pressurized to force fluid from the chamber into the delivery tube. A first air-pressure-operated valve closes a fluid inlet opening of the chamber at the beginning of a basting cycle, while a second air-pressure-operated valve enables communication between the container and the chamber.

  • Publication number: 20060107553
Abstract: The present invention provides an interchangeable shoe footbed cartridge system. The system includes a footbed such as a midsole, insole or a sockliner. A cartridge is inserted into or otherwise attached to the forefoot section of the footbed. Multiple cartridges of varying depths, widths and/or lengths may be provided. The wearer can select a cartridge to achieve a desired fit. Because right and left feet may be of different sizes, different cartridges may be chosen for each foot. Furthermore, the user may swap cartridges depending upon different conditions, or to change the stiffness of the cartridge. Additionally, a slipcover having a stretchable portion may be placed over the cartridge system. The cartridges enable a footwear manufacturer to produce fewer shoe sizes while fitting more of the population. This reduces manufacturing, shipping, warehousing and accounting costs. All levels of the supply chain, as well as the end customers, will greatly benefit from the method of supplying footwear.

  • Patent number: 6915448
Abstract: A storage assembly includes a plurality of multi-unit storage device is provided with a failover procedure that does not require hot-swap capability. Individual units are aggregated into a storage array by an aggregation procedure such as RAID. When a failure occurs data from the failed unit is transferred to a hot spare unit. Also, data from other units is transferred by simulating failure of those units and then the complete device can be removed. In small storage networks all the units may be aggregated as a single array and a spare auxiliary device is summoned and integrated into the array prior to the simulated failure. In larger systems there may be two layers of aggregation and failover is run by the second level of aggregation.

  • Publication number: 20050120733
Abstract: A heat pump includes a first and second heat exchanger, a scroll compressor and a flash tank in fluid communication. The flash tank includes an inlet fluidly coupled to the heat exchangers to receive liquid refrigerant. Furthermore, the flash tank includes a first outlet fluidly coupled to the first and second heat exchangers and a second outlet fluidly coupled to the scroll compressor. The first outlet is operable to deliver sub-cooled-liquid refrigerant to the heat exchangers while the second outlet is operable to deliver vaporized refrigerant to the scroll compressor. An expansion valve is further provided and is operable to selectively open and close the inlet by a float device. The float device is operable to control an amount of liquid refrigerant disposed within the flash tank by regulating an amount of liquid refrigerant entering the flash tank via the inlet.

  • Publication number: 20050058870
Abstract: A method of addressing one MEA failure mode by controlling MEA catalyst layer overlap, and the apparatus formed thereby is disclosed. The present invention addresses a feature of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) architecture that is associated with field failures due to the loss of ionomer from the edges of the electrolyte. To address ionomer degradation, the present invention provides a MEA design in which the cathode catalyst edges are closer than the anode catalyst edges to the edges of the electrolyte.

  • Publication number: 20050032095
Abstract: The invention provides oligonucleotide probes that can be used to hybridize to a representation of nucleic acid sequences. Compositions containing the probes such as microarrays are also provided. The invention also provides methods of using these probes and compositions in therapeutic, diagnostic, and research applications. Systems and methods for using a word counting algorithm that can quickly and accurately count the number of times a particular string of characters (i.e., nucleotides) appears in a nucleotide sequence (e.g., a genome) are provided. This algorithm can be used to identify the oligonucleotide probes of the invention. The algorithm uses a transform of a genome and an auxiliary data structure to count the number of times a particular word occurs in the genome.

  • Patent number: 6506715
Abstract: An automobile wash and wax composition suitable for simultaneously washing and waxing a soiled exterior surface of a vehicle without buffing. The automotive wash and wax composition being an aqueous emulsion containing an anionic surfactant, a silicone oil, an amino-functional silicone, a wax, and a cationic emulsifier. The wash and wax composition is applied to a pre-wetted exterior surface of a vehicle so as to substantially coat the surface of the vehicle that requires cleaning and polishing. After the coated surface has substantially dried, the surface is washed with a sufficient quantity of water to rinse away the soil particles and the residue of the anionic surfactant, leaving behind a durable, evenly distributed, high-gloss, water resistant protective film of silicones and wax on the vehicle surface, without any buffing of the surface.
