  • Patent number: 10989823
Abstract: The present invention relates to a neutron detector that for the first time permits the construction of large detector areas of approximately 1 m2 to 2 m2, with a spatial resolution of the neutrons of under 2 mm. It is additionally possible in the case of the modular construction in a stack arrangement to attain detection sensitivities that are comparable to 3He counter tubes (ca. 60%) or, with a greater number of detector elements, higher. By using thin substrate plates—such as aluminum sheets—and omission of the external pressure vessels, the neutron detectors are relatively lightweight despite their large dimensions and can be produced inexpensively.

  • Publication number: 20170260619
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a neutron converter from boron carbide or a boron film on a neutron transparent metal substrate. The neutron transparent metal substrate is polished in a first step by fine grinding and coated in a further step by means of sputtering with boron carbide or a boron film. An adhesion promoting layer is optionally applied between the metal substrate and below the boron or boron carbide layer. The coatings obtained have a high homogeneity in layer thickness, chemical composition and isotope ratio as well as a low level of impurities such as oxygen or nitrogen.

  • Patent number: 8643826
Abstract: A method for illuminating printing plates in which the light from a light source is imaged on a two-dimensional light modulator having a plurality of rows of light-modulated cells, and the light is modulated thereby, whereupon the light modulator is imaged on light-sensitive material via an imaging beam path, wherein the light-sensitive material is moved relative to the light modulator substantially perpendicularly to the direction of the rows of light-modulated cells at a relative speed and wherein the data pattern to be imaged on the light-sensitive material is displayed beginning in the first row of the light modulator in each row consecutively during an exposure time (T, T?) and then moved to the subsequent row of the light modulator. In order to improve the method, the image of the data pattern is held substantially stationary relative to the light-sensitive material during the exposure time (T, T?).

  • Publication number: 20110273689
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for illuminating printing plates (5) in which the light from a light source (2) is imaged on a two-dimensional light modulator (4) having a plurality of rows of light-modulated cells (8), and said light is modulated thereby, whereupon the light modulator (4) is imaged on light-sensitive material (5) via an imaging beam path (11), wherein the light-sensitive material (5) is moved relative to the light modulator (4) substantially perpendicularly to the direction of the rows of light-modulated cells (8) at a relative speed and wherein the data pattern to be imaged on the light-sensitive material (5) is displayed beginning in the first row of the light modulator (4) in each row consecutively during a respective exposure time (T, T?) and then moved to the subsequent row of the light modulator (4).

  • Publication number: 20090101845
Abstract: The invention relates to an exposure device (1) which comprises a light source (2), a light modulator (4) in addition to a light coupling unit (3). The aim of the invention is to optimize, in a simple and economical manner, the radiation intensity in the spectral area which is necessary for exposing the material (6) which is to be exposed. The light source (2) comprises at least one laser diode (7).
