Publication number: 20240139651Abstract: The present system is for integrated management of associated gas and produced water at oil well extraction sites. The system includes a controller that makes gas allocation determination (e.g., directs conditioned gas to (i) gas flare, (ii) produced water reduction system, and/or (iii) generator) when a change in conditioned gas flow is detected based on first plurality of inputs. If the conditioned gas is directed to the generator, then the controller makes an electricity allocation determination (e.g., (i) increase a data processing operating rate on a data processing server, (ii) start up idle data processing equipment, (iii) direct generated electric current to a power grid, and/or (iv) charge a storage battery) based on second plurality of inputs. By operating the system of gas consumption and electricity production/consumption in an integrated fashion, benefits of flaring prevention, resource conversation, and more efficient economic operations are optimized to a degree not previously attainable.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2023Publication date: May 2, 2024Inventors: John Heffernan, Ted Lanpher, Joseph Beyers

Patent number: 11433396Abstract: In a polymer assay cartridge having wells containing reagents, beads and sample, where the wells are covered (e.g., with Parafilm® or films) and shipped to the point of care, the reagents and well contents can leak out. The reagent solutions are made semi-solid by adding hydrogel reagents and cooling to form a gel. Preferably, the hydrogel is heated before an assay is conducted with the cartridge, and pigmented beads in the wells indicate melting or excessive heating, or congealing of the hydrogel, based on pigment color change.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2020Date of Patent: September 6, 2022Assignee: Fannin Partners LLCInventors: Leo Linbeck, III, Dev Chatterjee, Michael John Heffernan

Publication number: 20220192810Abstract: The present invention relates to the application of medical devices that manage urinary incontinence. The inter-bladder/urethra implanted device allows for passive urine leakage above a threshold bladder pressure and subject-controlled opening and closing of a valve to allow urine passage, below the threshold bladder pressure. The valve is preferably a deformable sac which seals against the interior of the urethra when closed. The valve can be opened by withdrawing slightly from the urethra surface. Passive urine leakage to prevent over-pressure can be facilitated by including external channels on the valve sac. In another embodiment, the valve sac has a central passage which expands and contracts for opening and closing, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2021Publication date: June 23, 2022Inventors: Leo LINBECK, III, Michael John Heffernan, Deepti Gopinath, Christine Luk, Carine Rizk, Amanda Gibbens

Patent number: 10828636Abstract: The invention relates to conducting assays with an apparatus including a substantially transparent assay cartridge loaded with magnetic beads, and a magnet carrier base positioned below a scanning platform holding the assay cartridge. A microcomputer controls a stepping motor which controls movement of the magnet carrier base, and causes the magnetic beads to travel from one well to another, where the wells contain different assay reagents. An electromagnetic coil-spring assembly induces mixing of well contents with the magnetic beads on actuation. The assay cartridge is authenticated by sending its encoded identifier to a server or website, and assay instructions are provided remotely to the microcomputer. Following assay completion, the cartridge can have color change or other assay indication detected, and the results sent to the server or website or another recipient. Concurrently assaying a control allows modification of assay results based on measured field conditions.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2017Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: FANNIN PARTNERS LLCInventors: Leo Linbeck, III, Michael John Heffernan, Dev Chatterjee, Atul Varadhachary

Patent number: 9854925Abstract: A new range of ready to use home baking products, measured and proportioned, is provided for selection of the required ingredients for the type of cake required and bake. The general idea is that home bakers, without any special baking experience, knowledge or commercial baking background can bake professional tasting cake. The range contains unique concepts which are embodied in the kiosk and associated displays, which include pour and bake batter, dry cake mixes, Danish pastry dough, filling, toppings, icing, fondant and all the other typical ingredients necessary needed and involved in home cake baking, similar to the range of fresh baked commercial available goods. One stop shopping is provided in a kiosk, where not only are all the ingredients available but where the home baker can interface with a baking company's logo and computer display and vending of products for all the various information one may need.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2016Date of Patent: January 2, 2018Assignee: Machinery Verification & Documentation Service Inc.Inventors: John Heffernan, Neil P. Patent number: 9545118Abstract: A shaker/dispenser dispenses crushed chip particles of discrete sizes for sprinkling directly on food as pourable condiments of discrete sized particles of the remnants of the crushed potato chips. Each potato chip of pre-determined thickness is crushed and crumbed into fine, medium and coarse crumbs of varying particle sizes. The chip crumb particles have a variety of flavors, salt and vinegar, cheese and onion, sour cream and chives, eggs and bacon, etc. The system provides selected potato chip condiments in sliced components for crushing and forming the particles of the desired sizes. In an alternate embodiment, the condiments are packaged in either a self-opening single use pouch or in a shaker/dispenser with a mill lid.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2014Date of Patent: January 17, 2017Inventors: John Heffernan, Neil P Heffernan
