  • Patent number: 7181183
Abstract: A telecommunication system incorporates a vanadium redox battery energy storage system. The vanadium redox battery energy storage system receives and is charged by DC power. Upon power interruption, telecommunication equipment relies on the vanadium redox battery energy storage system to receive DC power. A charger/rectifier monitors received AC power to determine if an AC power interruption is occurring and initiates DC power transmission from the vanadium redox battery energy storage system to the telecommunication equipment.

  • Publication number: 20060103050
Abstract: There are provided apparatuses and related methods for forming sheets. The formed sheets can be formed of a thermoplastic material, such as flat sheets of reinforced thermoplastic, which can be lightweight, strong, and perform well in flammability, smoke, and toxicity tests. The apparatus includes a heater for heating the sheet to a processing temperature and a structure for configuring the sheet to a desired shape using one or more rollers, shapers, longitudinal members, and/or support members.

  • Patent number: 5475728
Abstract: A motion system or goniometer for moving a sample supported by the system has a triangular plate supported at each apex by actuators that can extend or retract axially independently from one another. The actuators are mounted on x-y translation stages and a .theta. rotation stage. The movement of the actuators, translation stages and rotation stage is controlled by a computer. When it is desired to create a rocking curve at a particular position on the sample, the translation stages and rotation stage can remain stationary while moving only the plate and actuators. The goniometer is much more efficient and less expensive than previous devices which require movement of the entire goniometer when creating a rocking curve.

  • Patent number: 4279729
Abstract: An anode having an elongated body which may be extruded contains a bore extending at least partially through the body. The bore has an intermediate portion between the ends of the anode. A lead wire in the bore is fastened to a connector member having a self-tapping thread engageable at predetermined torque with the surface of the bore at the intermediate portion for cutting a thread in the bore upon relative rotation of the connector member and the body of anode material. A sealant is inserted in the bore after a thread is cut in the bore and surrounds the left in place connector member preventing moisture from reaching the connection to the anode at the intermediate portion.
