  • Patent number: 12012742
Abstract: A drain is positioned in an aperture in a floor surface. The drain includes a flange that defines an opening, extends overt the floor surface and engages the floor surface. A first conduit is connected to the flange and extends through the aperture in the floor surface. The first conduit defines a first length extending downward from the flange and also defines a first perimeter. A second conduit is connected to the flange and extends through the aperture in the floor surface. The second conduit defines a second length extending downward from the flange, and defines a second perimeter. The second perimeter is greater than the first perimeter, the second conduit surrounds the first conduit, the second conduit is outwardly spaced from the first conduit, and the first conduit and the second conduit are coaxial.

  • Publication number: 20130023885
Abstract: A unidirectional plunger device for a syringe includes a base member and a ratchet mechanism. The base member is configured to attach to the proximal end of the syringe body such that the ratchet mechanism engages the plunger of the syringe. The ratchet mechanism may include a pawl configured to engage teeth on a plunger rod of the plunger. The ratchet mechanism is desirably configured to permit distal movement of the plunger while resisting proximal movement of the plunger. The unidirectional plunger device may be a retrofit that can be attached to (e.g., clipped onto) an existing syringe design. The device may be used in conjunction with a two-barrel syringe for dispensing a two-part curable composition, such as calcium phosphate bone cement or epoxy resin.

  • Publication number: 20110208349
Abstract: An electronic point of sales (EPOS) vending control apparatus for connecting different types of electronic point of sales (EPOS) systems with different types of vending machines is disclosed. The apparatus provides means for ensuring that the signals carrying control instructions for each EPOS system and vending machine connected to the control apparatus are in an appropriate format. The invention also ensures that one person is fully accountable for all vends originating from a particular EPOS system to provide one point of access and includes a verifiable audit trail. Each vend operation is recorded against a single authenticated operator.

  • Publication number: 20090095667
Abstract: Cleaning operations involving steam and flushing with water produce runoff that flows into drains installed in factory floors. Allowing bulky materials to flow into and plugging factory drains creates floor flooding conditions, production line shutdown and loss of time and money. These conditions can occur when strainer baskets are removed from drains. A drain facilitated with a drain closer prevents flow of bulky materials into drains and subsequent plugging. The drain closer is activated with a modified strainer basket such that removal of the basket closes the drain preventing inflow of bulky materials.

  • Publication number: 20070022735
Abstract: A PTO apparatus for a gas turbine engine having first and second drive shafts includes a first ring gear for being coupled to the first drive shaft and a first bevel gear engaged with the first drive gear and coupled to a PTO shaft. A second ring gear is provided for being coupled to the second drive shaft. A second bevel gear is engaged with the second drive gear and coupled to the PTO shaft through a one-way clutch. A method of operating a gas turbine engine includes operatively coupling a PTO shaft to first and second drive shafts and providing a starting torque to the first and second drive shafts through the PTO shaft. After the engine is started, power is transferred from the first drive shaft to the PTO shaft; and the second shaft is decoupled from the PTO shaft.

  • Publication number: 20060289316
Abstract: A mixing container wherein two or more chamber members each contain a material to be mixed. A first chamber member has a threaded port. A second chamber member has a threaded neck which is threadedly receivable in the port to threadedly connect the chamber members. The neck has a terminal opening. A sealing member covers the opening. The first chamber member has a frangible portion which sealingly closes an inner end of the port and which is broken is as the neck bears there against as the neck is threadedly received in the port. A blade on the first chamber member punctures the neck sealing member as the neck sealing member bears against the blade as the neck is threadedly received in the port. This allows the materials in the chamber members to flow between the chamber members to be mixed. The container may also have an opening for dispensing the substance mixed therein.

  • Publication number: 20060197344
Abstract: A pipe coupling clamp comprising a pair of clamp half members essentially C-shaped in cross-section each having a pipe flange receiving groove for receiving the mating flanges of two pipes to be coupled. The clamp half members being hinged together at one pair of ends by a hinge comprising plates and releasably connected together at the other pair of ends by a locking eyebolt and associated locking eyebolt nut hingedly connected at its proximal end to the end of one clamp half member to allow pivoting moving through a slot into an open securing jaw on the other end. The locking eyebolt comprises, at its proximal end, an eyebolt seating portion connected to a stepped threaded portion of reduced diameter at its distal end. Thus, initially, on loosening of the nut, the locking eyebolt will not disengage from within the securing jaw.

  • Publication number: 20060055828
Abstract: In a display device having a matrix-type display, an automatic picture setting circuit includes a source for color video signals, and adjustable gamma correction circuits for each of the color video signals. Each of the adjustable gamma correction circuits has a control input for receiving a control signal for controlling an amount of gamma correction performed. In addition, the automatic picture setting circuit includes an ambient light sensing circuit for generating the control signal for the adjustable gamma correction circuits in dependence on a detected amount of ambient light. As such, the automatic picture setting circuit adapts a picture displayed on the display device to the amount of ambient light around the display device thereby assuring an optimum displayed picture.
