  • Publication number: 20180252292
Abstract: An isolator for damping heat and vibrations between a heat shield and heat source is provided. The isolator includes a housing and a washer. The housing surrounds a center opening and extends axially from a first end portion to a second end portion and includes an intermediate portion therebetween. The housing has a serpentine shape. The first end portion and the intermediate portion of the housing clamp a washer therebetween, and the second end portion and the intermediate portion of the housing clamp the heat shield therebetween. The washer includes a plurality of through openings between an outer periphery and the center opening for enhancing vibration dampening and minimizing heat transfer from the heat source to the heat shield. The isolator optionally includes a collar member disposed along the center opening of the washer to facilitate mounting of the isolator to the heat source.

  • Publication number: 20170191445
Abstract: The multi-layer gasket assembly includes a plurality of gasket layers which present a plurality of co-axially aligned openings and have outer peripheries. At least two of the gasket layers are functional layers and have full embossment beads which are spaced from and surround the openings. The functional layers further include half beads with are spaced from the full embossment beads. One or more of the gasket layers presents a redundant seal spaced from the full and half embossment beads of the functional layers and located adjacent the outer peripheries of the one or more gaskets. The redundant seal has a height which is less than a height of the half beads of the functional layers. The redundant seal restricts any fluids that have wicked past the full embossment beads and the half beads from escaping out of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 8646455
Abstract: The invention is an oral appliance for prevention of sleeping problems including snoring, sleep apnea and bruxism, and may also be used to protect the teeth and gums from surgical instruments during surgery. Specifically, the appliance alters the position of the user's mandible, which is known as a method for reducing the restriction of the flow of air through the pharyngeal passageway. The appliance is a one-piece device molded from a flexible polymer. It includes an upper maxillary tray and a lower mandibulary tray. Both upper and lower trays include inner and outer walls which increase contact area with the teeth. The hinge mechanism of the device includes a positive positioning system comprised of opposed interlocking ridges. The ridges serve to create offset between the position of the upper tray and lower tray relative to each other, therefore advancing the user's mandible.
