  • Patent number: 10935477
Abstract: A method of detecting a defect in an applied volume of material includes detecting a pressure discontinuity during dispensing the volume of material along a predetermined path on a substrate. The pressure discontinuity is indicative of the defect in the applied volume of material. The location of the defect along the predetermined path is function of a start time of the pressure discontinuity and the size of the defect is a function of a time duration of the pressure discontinuity. The method can further include determining whether or not to repair the defect as a function of the location and the size of the defect in the applied volume of material. The method includes repairing the defect by re-directing the material applicator to the location of the defect and dispensing additional material at the location of the defect.

  • Patent number: 10924291
Abstract: Operations include determining billing for data being transmitted out of an Autonomous System (AS). An internal node in the AS determines billing for a packet transmitted out of the AS based at least on an egress path of the packet. The packet is received at the internal node in the AS The internal node selects an egress path of the packet based on one or more characteristics of the packet. The egress path is mapped directly or indirectly to a billing counter. The billing counter is incremented based on (a) the transmission of the packet on the overlay network to the egress gateway and (b) transmission of the packet out of the AS on the selected egress path.

  • Patent number: 10900860
Abstract: A method for monitoring a fluid carrying conduit by introducing an acoustic pulse into the conduit, and interrogating an optic fibre positioned along the path of said conduit to provide distributed acoustic sensing. By measuring the response at each of a plurality of locations, a conduit condition profile can be derived. A condition profile can be obtained quickly and easily with minimum disruption to the pipeline infrastructure and contained flow. Existing optic fibres running along the path of a pipe can be employed for sensing purposes, allowing relatively long spans of pipeline to be monitored with only limited access to the pipe.

  • Patent number: 10870487
Abstract: An aircraft is operable to transition between thrust-borne lift in a VTOL orientation and wing-borne lift in a biplane orientation. The aircraft includes an airframe having first and second wings with first and second pylons extending therebetween forming a central region. A two-dimensional distributed thrust array and a flight control system are coupled to the airframe. A nose cone and an afterbody are each selectively coupled to the airframe. In a cargo delivery flight configuration, the nose cone and the afterbody are coupled to the airframe such that the nose cone and the afterbody each extend between the first and second wings and between first and second pylons to form a cargo enclosure with an aerodynamic outer shape. In a minimal drag flight configuration, the nose cone and the afterbody are not coupled to the airframe such that air passes through the central region during flight.

  • Publication number: 20200345561
Abstract: A body-contoured, T-shaped pad is designed to treat trauma to the perineal region of a new mother or other patient. The pad design may include specially designed T-shaped pad portions, an integrated ice pack, and relative positioning of the layers which combine to provide both cooling properties and proper absorption. For example, the pad includes an absorptive layer next to the skin, with an ice bag next to the absorptive layer which is designed to accept ice chips from commonly available ice machines found in hospital settings. The size and configuration of the pad assembly is designed for comfort, mobility, and compatibility with a patient's own undergarments. This design provides a cost-effective, single pad assembly which combines infection control with proper absorbency, provides high levels of patient comfort, and protects the dignity of the patient.

  • Patent number: 10814971
Abstract: Systems and methods include providing an aircraft with a tail rotor system having a tail rotor housing that forms a cambered airfoil between an upper cambered surface and a lower cambered surface of the tail rotor housing. The cambered airfoil design of the tail rotor housing is capable of providing sufficient lifting force of an aircraft to offload the tail rotor during forward flight, thereby eliminating the need for a traditional vertical stabilizer or fin. The tail rotor blades of the tail rotor system are disposed within an aperture in the tail rotor housing, which minimizes or preferably eliminates exposure of the tail rotor blades to edgewise airflow typically encountered during forward flight, thereby allowing rigid rotor hubs, both in-plane and out-of-plane, to be used in the tail rotor system while also reducing noise output of the tail rotor system.

  • Publication number: 20200336395
Abstract: The detection of network communication problems in networks that have multiple end nodes, and multiple transit nodes in between. One or more of the end nodes monitors one or more flows, creates associated flow information including performance information for each flow, and then reports the flow information. A system then estimates, for each of multiple flows within the network, a likely path that network traffic takes through that network. The system might then use performance information for each of the reported flows to identify at least one candidate problem network entity that is common amongst the estimated paths of the at least the subset of the plurality of flows.

  • Patent number: 10771372
Abstract: Techniques for transmitting test traffic on a communication link are disclosed. A computer system includes at least two nodes, interconnected by a particular communication link. A test engine associated with one of the two nodes identifies a level of data traffic being transmitted on the particular communication link. Based on the level of data traffic, the test engine selects a level of test traffic to be transmitted on the particular communication link. The node associated with the test engine transmits the selected level of test traffic on the particular communication link. The test traffic is transmitted concurrently with the data traffic on the particular communication link. The node receiving the test feedback transmits test feedback. Based on the test feedback, the test engine generates test results for the particular communication link. The test engine determines and/or executes a corrective action based on the test results.
