  • Patent number: 9083012
Abstract: A membrane electrode assembly comprises an ion-conducting membrane; a first electrocatalyst layer having a surface facing the membrane; a first electronically-conducting porous gas diffusion substrate facing the other surface of the first electrocatalyst layer; and a first film member interposed between the membrane and the first electrocatalyst layer. The first electrocatalyst layer has an edge region and a central region, and the first film member contacts the edge region and not the central region. A first adhesive layer is present on the surface of the first film member facing the first electrocatalyst layer, and the first adhesive layer adheres the first film member to the first electrocatalyst layer, impregnates through the first electrocatalyst layer, and impregnates into the first gas diffusion substrate.

  • Patent number: 8245920
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for facilitating a financial transaction. During operation, the system receives a request for a financial transaction from a merchant, wherein the financial transaction involves a payment to the merchant. Next, the system obtains a unique transaction identifier for the financial transaction. The system then associates the unique transaction identifier with the request to facilitate reconciliation of the financial transaction. Finally, the system forwards the request along with the unique transaction identifier to one or more financial institutions for subsequent processing of the financial transaction, which can involve reconciliation and/or settlement of the financial transaction.

  • Patent number: 7726561
Abstract: A system and method for reconciling a payment to a merchant (e.g., from a credit card issuer or processor) with a set of credit card transactions corresponding to the payment. A reconciliation facilitator assigns unique transaction IDs to credit card transactions submitted by the merchant. The reconciliation facilitator issues authorization requests for some or all of the transactions, and also submits a settlement request for authorized transactions, wherein one or both types of requests include the unique transaction IDs of the associated transactions. When a set of transactions is settled, their unique IDs are received as part of the settlement data, and the reconciliation facilitator can identify the settled transactions to the merchant (e.g., through his accounting or point-of-sale software).

  • Patent number: 6937157
Abstract: The present invention to provide a “smart cable system” for high density metallic cross connect systems. In particular, this invention relates to the physical structure of cables and associated hardware needed to form the “smart cable system” for interconnecting cards in shelves and racks of high density metallic cross connect switching systems. This invention provides the cable installer the ability to connect cables to cards with minimal errors by using visual indicators. The visual indicators guide the cable installer such that he/she can properly install the cables into the appropriate connectors. The present invention also provides a means for detecting when and where the cables are connected within the cross connect system.
