  • Publication number: 20170093111
Abstract: A high power laser with chirped pulse amplification to produce extremely high power ultrashort pulses is disclosed. A pulse stretcher and methods of stretching a laser pulse are also disclosed. The pulse stretcher comprises: a first diffraction grating (G1) arranged to receive and disperse a seed laser pulse; transfer optics (CM) arranged to collect the dispersed pulse and direct it to a transmission diffraction grating (G2) which is either the first diffraction grating or a second diffraction grating; the transmission diffraction grating arranged to collimate the collected pulse to a reflector (BM), the reflector arranged such that the pulse is reflected back through the pulse stretcher via the transmission diffraction grating. The pulse stretcher provides better phase noise performance of the output pulse, and therefore a reduction in the noise floor to improve contrast pedestal.

  • Publication number: 20070151579
Abstract: A control system for controlling a fill operation of a dishwasher having a pump and a pump motor driving the pump, and the dishwasher having a valve for controlling the flow of water to the dishwasher includes a monitoring device configured to be coupled to at least one of the pump and the pump motor. The monitoring device generates an output relating to at least one of an operating current and a speed of the pump motor. The control system also includes a controller configured to be operatively coupled to the valve, wherein the controller receives the output and is configured to operate the valve based on the output. The output relates to a fill condition of the dishwasher.

  • Publication number: 20070089450
Abstract: A water dispenser assembly used for a dispensing system includes an inlet configured to receive water from a water supply, and a flow meter in communication with the inlet. The flow meter is configured to measure an amount of water passing therethrough. A first valve is arranged in communication with the flow meter, and the first valve is configured to enable and restrict water flow to an outlet. A controller is operatively coupled to the flow meter and the first valve. The controller is configured to control the dispensing of water based on the measured amount of water passing through the flow meter and based upon a volume error factor correction.

  • Publication number: 20070093936
Abstract: An appliance includes a dispenser having a water valve for controlling a flow of water through the dispenser and a flowmeter for measuring the amount of water dispensed through the dispenser, and a controller operatively coupled to the water valve and the flowmeter. The controller is configured to receive an input relating to a target volume of water, adjust the target volume for a volume error correction to obtain an adjusted target volume, wherein the volume error correction is based on a flow rate, open the water valve, determine a total volume dispensed using the flowmeter, and close the water valve when the total volume dispensed equals the adjusted target volume.

  • Patent number: 5498064
Abstract: A seat unit includes a frame structure and a seat. A linkage assembly interconnects the frame structure and the seat for displacement of the seat relative to the frame structure between a lowered sitting position and a raised position to provide assistance for the person using the seat unit to stand up therefrom. The linkage assembly causes the rearward part of the seat to be raised by a greater distance than the front part so that the seat also tilts forwardly. First and second springs urge the seat towards its raised position, the springs being operable in combination to produce an overall spring force urging the seat towards its raised position with a spring force value which is of a desired magnitude in each part of the movement towards the raised position.
