  • Publication number: 20240093587
Abstract: An apparatus and method for trapping particles disposed in a fluid. The apparatus may comprise one or more cavities disposed axially along a length of a tubular housing, one or more connecting components disposed at opposing ends of the housing, and may optionally comprise a check valve system. Alternate embodiments are provided for forming each of the one or more cavities, which may comprise a combination of a cavity frame and cavity surface. The method may comprise flowing a fluid into a first end of a particle trap apparatus at a rate of fluid flow, directing the fluid flow at least partially through one or more cavity sub-assemblies disposed in the particle trap apparatus, collecting the particulate matter in one or more of the cavity sub-assemblies when the rate of fluid flow may slow or become suspended, and clearing collected particles from the one or more cavity sub-assemblies upon restoration of fluid flow in a primary direction of travel.

  • Patent number: 8161276
Abstract: A demodulator device and a method of operating the demodulator device where the demodulator device runs a loaded operating system and operates a communication protocol enabling a host application to control the demodulator device. The demodulator device is configured to respond to receipt of an abort command of the communication protocol by carrying out an abort process which stops current operations and reinitializes the loaded operating system.

  • Patent number: 7627668
Abstract: A data visualization system including a data value memory in which is maintained a finite set of data values, each data value associated with at least one time value, a display arranged to display a representation of each data value centered on respective data points, and a contour generator arranged to generate and display a contoured representation around each data point such that each data point is displayed as a local maximum. The present invention encompasses a data visualization method and a data visualization computer program.

  • Publication number: 20090293072
Abstract: A system having a plurality of hardware blocks and a method of operating that system where power to each hardware block is independently controlled according to whether or not the respective hardware block is needed for use. A counter is provided in the respective device driver of each hardware block, the counter being configured to be incremented each time a task requests use of the respective hardware block and to be decremented each time a task ceases use of the respective hardware block. The value of the counter is used to control whether or not to power up or power down the respective hardware block.

  • Publication number: 20070044394
Abstract: A guy marker apparatus for use on an associated guy wire includes a substantial rectangular body member having opposite parallel first and second edges and is foldable along a longitudinal axis parallel with the first and second edges. First and second connection portions are disposed at the first and second edges, respectively, for selectively interlocking the edges in slidable abutment to hold the main body member in a folded tubular conformation and selectively in a helical conformation. A tool for applying a guy marker apparatus onto an associated guy wire includes a main body member, an alignment portion adapted to guide the guy marker in an unlocked state relative to the main body member, and a production portion adapted to guide the marker in a self-locked state out from the main body member. A forming wall disposed between the alignment and production portions moves. the marker material between the unlocked and self-locked state based on relative movement between the tool and the guy marker material.

  • Patent number: 5505465
Abstract: An improved cartridge mounted mechanical seal for providing a seal between a housing and a rotatable shaft is provided, including at least one radial stud which extends from the inside of the rotary sleeve of the seal through the rotary sleeve and into the lock collar of the seal so as to transmit torque from the shaft to the rotating face of the seal. The radial stud is preferably removably insertable into said lock collar and is held axially in place by an elastomeric o-ring positioned in a groove in the stud.

  • Patent number: 5217234
Abstract: An improved mechanical seal is provided, wherein an annular inner flange extending from a gland plate having inlet and outlet openings is provided with a series of notches between the inlet and the outlet openings, the notches running in the direction of rotation of the shaft around which the seal is attached. The annular inner flange extends inwardly toward and close to the shaft. A series of axial notches made in the rotary sleeve of the seal, extending beneath the stationary seal assembly further increases pumping efficiency, and may be used to circulate barrier fluid without the notches in the flange. A recess in the flange at the outlet opening may used to further increase circulation efficiency.
