Publication number: 20240261660Abstract: A system for sports training comprising an object comprising one or more sensors that allows the system to identify the location of the object. The object also may have a microprocessor and wireless transmitter to allow for transmission of the sensor data via wireless transmission to an external electronic device. A software application running on the electronic device, such as a mobile phone or tablet, receives the sensor data and incorporates the information into a game-like or training application. This application can display to the user which location the object should be for the game. This application can also analyze which patterns the player has difficulties with and suggest certain patterns and other advice to help the player to improve their skills. Use of ultra-wideband communication between objects and base stations can determine the position of objects for use in training in hockey or soccer.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 10, 2023Publication date: August 8, 2024Inventor: Brian John Houlihan

Publication number: 20220053855Abstract: A protective detachable hand covering, particularly useful for pumping fuel into a fuel tank, and being store on a surface of a vehicle. The hand covering has a flexible base and a bridging member to secure the hand covering to an individual's hand. The flexible base has a bottom adhering surface, which may be magnetized or use a hook and loop fastening mechanism. A bridging member is secured to the top surface so a user can slide his or her hand within the hand cover and detach it from the surface by pulling away from the surface. The flexible base has a palmar region, an elongated thumb region, and an elongated index finger region, particularly useful for gripping a fuel pump handle, and allow a user to pump fuel without directly contacting the fuel pump handle. A method of pumping fuel using a protective detachable hand covering.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2020Publication date: February 24, 2022Inventor: Brian John Houlihan

Publication number: 20080277200Abstract: A cover insert for spanning a gap between two boards in a decking, in particular a scaffold decking, to prevent objects from falling through said gap and causing injury comprises first and second substantially parallel side walls (10, 11) for fitting into the gap and a cover portion (7) arranged for covering the space between the side walls. One of the side walls (10) has a pair of laterally extending walls (9, 13) extending outwardly in a direction away from the other of the side walls, the laterally extending walls (9, 13) being spaced apart for receiving an edge of one of the boards. A top one of the laterally extending walls (13), that may be an extension of the cover portion (7), provides a flange that rests on the top of the board on one side of the gap, and the cover portion (7) may also extend on the other side to provide a second flange (14) to rest on the top of the board on the other side of the gap.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2007Publication date: November 13, 2008Inventors: John Houlihan, Stephen Barlow, George Luchford

Patent number: 6039067Abstract: The system is unique in that a structure's plumbing lines are effectively routed, to stop energy and water waste, while adding little to construction cost. Water pressure to hot water supply (50) is controlled through a selectable flow control valve (10). A hot water manifold (3) and check valves 42 and 43 produce a dual line connection, between hot water manifold (3) and the hot water use area. In the water saver mode, positioning selectable flow control valve (10) causes pump (4) to draw water from distribution conduit (6), through selectable flow control valve (10), through cold water manifold (12) and solenoid valve (37) to hot water supply (50). Pump (4) causes hot water to fill distribution conduit (6), to the hot water use area. This circulation delivers hot water to replace water standing in the line. Circulation period is determined by controller (22).Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1998Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Inventor: John A. Houlihan

Patent number: 5775372Abstract: An on demand, multi-faceted, programmable, electronically and electromechanically controlled, water and energy conservation system, easily segmented and adaptable to the limitations of varying structures, specific conservation goals and each user's economic considerations. The energy saver segment and one of several water saver segments may be combined into a complete system, configurational to differing conditions and useable with any pressurized water supply. The invention may also be configured for installation in existing, new or add-on structures. Preselected opening and closing of remotely actuated valves alters conduit paths, to avoid water waste down the drain, waiting for hot water. Hot water delivered from the hot water supply is completely used, eliminating the energy waste of hot water cooling in the pipes.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Inventor: John A. Houlihan

Patent number: 5351712Abstract: An on demand, remotely activated, electronically and electro-mechanically controlled, energy saving, water conservation, hot, water recovery system, which may be installed in residential and commercial structures having a pressurized water supply (11). The system is comprised of a dual chamber, dual hot water outlet, water heating reservoir (23), and a flow control and recovery apparatus (10), in fluid communication with a cold water supply (11) and hot water outlets (93-97). The system installs in new or existing structures, without alteration of the plumbing lines or electrical wiring. The flow control (84) is preprogrammed to, upon command, drain standing water from the hot water outlets (93-97), and refill the outlets with hot water from the small chamber (23b) of the water heating reservoir (23), making hot water available at the instant an outlet is opened.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1993Date of Patent: October 4, 1994Inventor: John A. Houlihan

Patent number: 4847820Abstract: A watch case has attachment lugs on opposite ends thereof, a flexible resilient watch band with attachment ends, first means pivotably connecting one attachment end of the watch band to the lugs on the six o'clock end of the watch case, and second means pivotably connecting the other attachment end of the watch band to the lugs on the twelve o'clock end of the watch case and having abutment means limiting pivoting on the twelve o'clock lugs so as to require more resilient flexing of the watch band on the twelve o'clock end than on the six o'clock end as the band curves toward the wearer's wrist, whereby tendency of the more flexed end to unflex displaces the watch case in a preferred direction on the wrist.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1988Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Timex CorporationInventors: Tom Thinesen, John Houlihan, Judith Reichel, Fred Olsen
