  • Patent number: 7894358
Abstract: A device includes a multistage filter and an elephant trap. The multistage filter has hash functions and an array. The multistage filter is operable to receive a packet associated with a candidate heavy network user and send the packet to the hash functions. The hash functions generate hash function output values corresponding to indices in the array. The elephant trap is connected to the multistage filter. The elephant trap includes a buffer and probabilistic sampling logic. The probabilistic sampling logic is operable to attempt to add information associated with the packet to the buffer a particular percentage of the time based in part on the result of the multistage filter lookup. The buffer is operable to hold information associated with the packet, counter information, and timestamp information.

  • Publication number: 20080110935
Abstract: The baby formula preparation device includes a powder hopper and a distributor operably associated with the powder hopper for dispensing powdered baby formula into a baby bottle. The device also includes a water dispensing system having a water storage tank and a water heater that dispenses heated water into the baby bottle. A load cell measures the weight of the bottle and a controller coupled to the load cell regulates the quantity by weight of heated water and powdered baby formula dispensed into the baby bottle.

  • Publication number: 20070112657
Abstract: An exchange traded fund (ETF) is composed of a basket of fixed income securities. The fixed income securities have maturity dates within a relatively narrow range from a predefined range of each other (e.g., within approximately from five years from the launch of the ETF). The ETF pays interest to its owners. After the maturity dates, the ETF pays the principal to its owners and ceases operation. The ETF therefore has performance characteristics similar to an individual bond while having the diversification benefits of a traditional ETF or other fund.

  • Publication number: 20060101039
Abstract: A method and apparatus speeding up an incremental hash function is described. The method may comprise receiving a data string including a plurality of N data samples and, as each data sample is received, multiplying the data samples to obtain data sample multiplication results and multiplying a current hash value by a constant to obtain a hash multiplication result. Thereafter, the data sample multiplication results are added to the hash multiplication result to obtain new current hash values and a hash value of the data string is defined as the new hash value. In an embodiment, a moving window of length wl may be defined and data samples that were received wl to wl+N bytes previously may be multiplied with the constant raised to the power of w to wl+Nl to obtain n subtraction results.

  • Publication number: 20060098652
Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for identifying content in a packet. The method may obtain data sample from the packet where the data sample is in a predetermined window at an initial offset point in the packet. For each offset point, a first stage of processing on the data sample may be performed to identify if the data sample corresponds to potentially relevant reference string. A more focused second stage of processing may then be carried out on the data sample to identify if the data sample corresponds to potentially relevant reference string. Thereafter, an even more focused third stage of processing may be carried out on the data sample to obtain a third stage result. If the data sample passes all three stages of processing, a predefined action is identified which is associated with a reference string corresponding to the data sample.

  • Publication number: 20050230343
Abstract: A baby formula stirring and dispensing mechanism includes a motor-driven auger disposed in a lower portion of a formula hopper for dispensing a desired quantity of the powdered baby formula from the hopper. A mixing wheel disposed in the hopper rotates and stirs the baby powder formula as the auger is rotated. Water is pumped from a water storage tank to a smaller heating reservoir where it is heated to the desired temperature. A discharge nozzle receives and mixes the heated water and a corresponding amount of powdered baby formula for delivery to a baby bottle.

  • Patent number: 5782076
Abstract: Convective cooling of turbine hot parts using a closed loop system is disclosed. Preferably, the present invention is applied to cooling the hot parts of combustion turbine power plants, and the cooling provided permits an increase in the inlet temperature and the concomitant benefits of increased efficiency and output. In preferred embodiments, methods and apparatus are disclosed wherein air is removed from the combustion turbine compressor and delivered to passages internal to one or more of a combustor and turbine hot parts. The air cools the combustor and turbine hot parts via convection and heat is transferred through the surfaces of the combustor and turbine hot parts.
