    Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for monitoring and filtering data transmission for providing the creation of a secure “virtual classroom” through which teachers can use the internet to link their students to other classes and work collaboratively and create a “shared learning” environment. A collaborative community is created by a teacher or administrator who submits initial input data to a central storage and clearing center. A first filter system is employed to ascertain and control the entrance of class data in order to ensure that the entering party is duly authorized. Once the initial input data is accepted, a search engine permits the teacher to search for compatible shared classrooms. The dynamic filtering permits security to be controlled by a central location and ties the individual classrooms into a network. The dynamic filtering level component permits each classroom and each student to be monitored to a degree designated by the teacher and appropriate for the student.

The extramedullary alignment guide includes both radiolucent and radiopaque material. The invention is useful in performing surgery on bones, for example, in performing surgery on the knee joint. The radiolucent material provides a support structure for the radiopaque material. The radiopaque material provides a radiopaque instrument reference that is sized, shaped and positioned so that the surgeon can simultaneously fluoroscopically view the patient's bone and the radiopaque instrument reference. The radiopaque instrument reference may be aligned with landmarks on the bone or other fluoroscopically viewable references, such as the mechanical or anatomic axis. The alignment guide can also include cutting guide surfaces.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides a system for qualifying embryonic stem cells intended for human therapy. A comprehensive sequencing project has identified important markers that are characteristic of undifferentiated pluripotent cells. Combinations of these markers have been used to screen feeder cells, media additives, and culture conditions that promote rapid expansion of stem cells without differentiation. By measuring undifferentiated stem cell markers, and markers formed by early progenitors such as stromal cells, the user can quantitate the proportion and extent of differentiation. This establishes standardized criteria for master cell banks and cell cultures that can then be used to produce therapeutic cell populations and medicaments for use in regenerative medicine.

A browser is configured by an administrator to require that all pages be reviewed and checked before they are delivered to the recipient. The browser directs that the monitoring and filtering applicable to the hierarchical system be exercised with regard to the pages to be reviewed. The system also contains a hierarchical control level so that varying filtering and monitoring control is available at each level of the hierarchy and can be configured down to the individual user level to permit the overall system to remain secure while providing appropriate browser capabilities to the users, be they student, teachers, administrators or parents. The administrator or other control person within the hierarchy can also prevent access to any other browser, making the filtered browser the only one available to the user.
