    Abstract: A firearms attachment system for installation on a firearm with an integral rail system is provided with a riser assembly that secures to the weapon and a mounting base assembly. The riser assembly has a riser and two retaining bolts that secure it to the rail system by passing through the slots between the ribs of the rail system. The riser assembly has a central groove that receives the rail and shoulders that fully hold the rail when slidably engaged. The retaining bolts maintain the desired orientation. The mounting base assembly is comprised of the base and the locking assembly. The base has a groove to receive the riser. When the riser assembly is affixed to the rail assembly, the weapons system can be slidably engaged with the mounting base assembly. The lock assembly impels a retaining bolt into the bottom of the riser, to prevent removal of the weapon.

    Abstract: This invention provides a locking system for a weapon that resists prying by a flat-headed tool. The system includes a base having a base channel for receiving an elongated portion of a weapon. A gate is hingedly attached to the lid by a hinge assembly. The gate moves between an open position and a closed position. The gate includes a gate channel that overlies the base channel in the closed position. A lock assembly selectively secures the gate with respect to the base in the closed position. A novel front joint, opposite the hinge assembly, is provided. It includes an internal lap joint with an overlap structure on each of a base front joint edge and a gate front joint edge. The base front joint edge and the gate front joint edge can each define a confronting, approximately horizontal surface forward of the internal lap joint.

    Abstract: A dam, or barrier, structure is moved along the edge, or corner, of a workpiece to control the flow limits of molten material of arc welding. The dam structure provides a dimentionally stable groove at the edge of the workpiece surface into which is received granulated flux and positions the body of the flux along the edge, or corner, of the workpiece surface to function as a mold for the molten material, and, thereby, prevent the falling of the flowing material from the surface. The dam structure has the specific form of a continuous tread of segments which advances around parallel rollers to reform the retaining groove structure opposite the arc operation on the surface of the workpiece.

    Abstract: Granulated welding flux is supplied under fluid pressure from a reservoir mounted at a convenient location for reloading. The reservoir is connected to an elevated vacuum tank. Recovered excess flux is also brought up to the vacuum tank, both sources of flux maintaining a predetermined level of flux within the vacuum tank. A conduit from the vacuum tank provides gravity feed of flux from the tank to a lower divider box from which a plurality of conduits deliver flux to the traveling welding arc from behind and in front of the arc between the tip of the welding electrode and the work piece.

    Abstract: The disclosure of the present application relates to an improved method of open-arc welding. According to the present method, the outer shield of a double-shield welding system consists of a stream of gas formed in a shield concentric with the inner shield. This method is distinguished by the fact that atmospheric air may be used as the outer shield gas because the outer-shield velocity is so regulated and so positioned as to prevent the air from being drawn into the weld area, the outer shield gas velocity nearly approximating the inner shield gas velocity.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for strip cladding into a corner while magnetically agitating the weld deposit. The clad strip is angled away from the corner in the plane of the electrode strip, and means are provided for using the corner-forming obstruction as a pole piece for the electromagnet. The welding head can thereby be positioned to clad into the corner without interference from an obstructing pole piece or from the welding head itself.
