Publication number: 20220134770Abstract: An example system for thermal energy determination can include a first controller comprising a processor and a non-transitory machine-readable medium (MRM) communicatively coupled to the processor. The non-transitory MRM can include instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to receive relative humidity information of an environment of a thermal printing device, determine a colormap to a print media of the thermal printing device based on the relative humidity, and determine a particular thermal energy to apply to the print media based on the determined colormap.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2019Publication date: May 5, 2022Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Miguel Angel Lopez Alvarez, Jay S. Gondek, John J. Cantrell, Yifeng Wu

Publication number: 20220129714Abstract: Examples of printing device calibration based on a lot code are described. In an example, a lot code of a print media is determined. Calibration parameters for a printing device are determined based on the lot code. The printing device is calibrated to print on the print media based on the calibration parameters.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2019Publication date: April 28, 2022Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Naoto A. Kawamura, Christine E. Steichen, Yifeng Wu, John J. Cantrell, David M. Wetchler

Publication number: 20220109770Abstract: An example marking device may include a sensing device, a media conveyance component, and a controller. The sensing device may be arranged in a media path to sense data encoded on media. The media conveyance component may feed a medium into the media path and advance the medium a first distance less than a length of the medium. And the controller may receive timing signals indicative of read timing markings from the sensing device, receive data signals indicative of media characteristic markings from the sensing device, and alter marking parameters of the marking device based on the to be received data signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2019Publication date: April 7, 2022Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventor: John J. Cantrell

Patent number: 11220111Abstract: An example ink tank includes a cap with a preloaded hinge that biases the cap to a fully opened position when the cap is unlatched. The cap in the fully opened position interferes with and prevents the closure of a door that provides access to the ink tank. The door includes a sensor that locks out the print function when the door is open, effecting a printer lockout when the cap of the ink tank is opened for filling.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2017Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: John J. Cantrell, Keith Jariabka, Theodore J. Conley, William S. Osborne

Patent number: 11046102Abstract: An example ink tank includes an ink tank and a cap assembly attached to the ink tank with a preloaded hinge. The hinge rotates the cap assembly from a closed position to an open position when the cap assembly is unlatched. The cap assembly includes a bung to seal the ink tank during a partial rotation of the cap assembly when the cap assembly is unlatched. The ink tank also includes spring-loaded linkage connected to a valve in the ink tank. An effector extending from the cap assembly engages the spring-loaded linkage when the cap assembly is latched and disengages from the spring-loaded linkage after the cap assembly is unlatched. The spring-loaded linkage opens the valve when engaged with the effector, and closes the valve when disengaged from the effector, while the bung maintains a tank seal until the internal valve is closed.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2017Date of Patent: June 29, 2021Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: John J. Cantrell, Keith Jariabka, Theodore J. Conley, William S. Osbome
