Patent number: 11822664Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to securing computing devices during boot. In various embodiments, a secure circuit of a computing device generates for a public key pair and signs, using a private key of the public key pair, configuration settings for an operating system of the computing device. A bootloader of the computing device receives a certificate for the public key pair from a certificate authority and initiates a boot sequence to load the operating system. The boot sequence includes the bootloader verifying the signed configuration settings using a public key included in the certificate and the public key pair. In some embodiments, the secure circuit cryptographically protects the private key based on a passcode of a user, the passcode being usable by the user to authenticate to the computing device.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2020Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Xeno S. Publication number: 20230348111Abstract: Methods and systems are provided that facilitate the maintenance of levered landing gears by monitoring the condition of the stop pads of such landing gears. One embodiment provides for calibrating a sensor for measuring a condition of a stop joint formed by a first stop pad and a second stop pad of a levered landing gear against a nominal condition of at least one of the first stop pad and the second stop pad; monitoring, by the sensor, a current condition of the at least one of the first stop pad and the second stop pad from the nominal condition; determining whether a non-conformance from the nominal condition of the at least one of the first stop pad and the second stop pad has been detected by the sensor for the current condition; and in response to determining that the non-conformance has been detected, generating an alert.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2023Publication date: November 2, 2023Inventors: John J. DONG, Mark N. SIMPSON, Roland HINTON, Naveed HUSSAIN

Publication number: 20230288918Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and computer program products for managing a set of outliers in test data. A computer system analyzes a set of features derived from the test data using different outlier detection methods to generate a result of the set of outliers identified by the different outlier detection methods. The test data is obtained from testing a physical structure. The computer system determines a causality for the set of outliers in the result. The physical structure is retested with a set of changes determined using the causality identified for the set of outliers. The retesting generates new test data for the physical structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2022Publication date: September 14, 2023Inventors: Mohammed H. Kabir, Alan Douglas Byar, John J. Dong, Alexandru I. Stere, Todd Clayton DePauw, Christina M. Doty, Ashith Paulson Kunnel Joseph, Navid Zobeiry

Publication number: 20230252206Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and computer program product for managing a physics simulation model. A machine learning model is trained to output predicted test results for sets of simulation values for a set of simulation parameters using a training data set based on test results for physical structures to form a surrogate model. Current simulation values for simulation parameters are selected using the surrogate model and a cost function. Simulation test results are generated using the physics simulation model that implements the current simulation values selected for the simulation parameters. The simulation test results are compared with physical test results from testing the set of physical structures using physical test inputs applied to the physical structures to form a comparison. The surrogate model is trained using the current simulation values selected for the simulation parameters using the surrogate model in response to the comparison being outside of a tolerance.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 20, 2022Publication date: August 10, 2023Inventors: Alan Douglas Byar, John J. Dong, Mohammed H. Kabir, Alexandru I. Stere, Christina Doty, Ashith Joseph, Navid Zobeiry

Publication number: 20230245503Abstract: A method is provided for monitoring a machine that is operable to perform a task. The method includes accessing a smart digital twin (SDT) of an instance of the machine, the SDT including discrete modules for storage of data and logic including models of the machine, requirements of the machine, and maintenance actions for the machine. The method includes performing data analytics on values of operating conditions of the machine to determine a state of the machine, using a model from the models of the machine and the logic. The state of the machine is compared to the requirements, and a maintenance action is identified based on the comparison and to cause a change in the state to maintain the requirements. The data of the SDT is updated to include identification of the maintenance action, and an indication of the maintenance action is output for performance on the machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2022Publication date: August 3, 2023Inventors: John J.
