  • Patent number: 5894179
Abstract: An electric motor comprising a stator having first and second ends and a cross section and a connector block mounted on one end of the stator, substantially entirely within the cross-sectional profile of the stator. The connector block has a plurality of electrical contacts oriented generally transversely outwardly with respect to the stator. An end shield is mounted over the end of the stator, overlying the top of the connector block. The end shield is spaced sufficiently from the stator in the vicinity of the connector block to allow free access to the electrical contacts of the connector block from the transverse direction.

  • Patent number: 5664666
Abstract: An electrical contact assembly of the present invention includes a body having a housing and a cover defining a space. A pair of spaced terminals are received in the space. One of the terminals has a contact formed at a free end thereof. The other contact has a spring arm secured to its free end. A contact is mounted on the spring arm in a position in which it can be moved into contact with the first contact. An extension is provided on the spring arm and a stop is provided in the body. When contact operation causes or attempts to cause tack welding of the two contacts, the stop extension operation maintains a spring force on the spring arm sufficiently strong to break the tack weld so that the contacts can be opened.
