  • Patent number: 10022133
Abstract: Surgical systems and tools are disclosed including a surgical tool that has a shroud and a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism can have a distal end configured to connect to a surgical cutting instrument. The shroud can be configured to be disposed adjacent the distal end of the drive mechanism and can be adapted to be disposed between the drive mechanism and tissue of a patient.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 29, 2015
Date of Patent: July 17, 2018
    Assignee: Zimmer, Inc.
    Inventor: John J. Hudak, Jr.
  • Patent number: 9931225
Abstract: An acetabular cup excise device includes a cup excising portion, an elongated handle shaft extending along a longitudinal axis from the cup excising portion, and a positioning assembly operably coupled to the handle shaft. The positioning assembly is configured to allow rotation of a handle lever, about the longitudinal axis, to position the handle lever along at least a first radial axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a second radial axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 2015
Date of Patent: April 3, 2018

  • Patent number: 8834480
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an improved osteotome instrument for removing an acetabular cup from an acetabulum, including an explant adapter connectable to an elongated handle shaft of the instrument. The explant adapter is sized and shaped to connect any one of a set of a plurality of different sized interchangeable pivot elements, such as spherical heads, to the osteotome instrument for use in removing the acetabular cup from the acetabulum. The pivot heads may be relatively large diameter pivot heads.

  • Patent number: 6391744
Abstract: A method of thinning a non-SOI device using an SOI thinning process that includes the steps of receiving an SOI starting wafer, where the SOI starting wafer includes a silicon substrate and an oxide layer thereon; selecting a non-SOI fabrication process for fabricating the non-SOI device; forming a layer of device quality silicon on the oxide layer of the SOI starting wafer to a sufficient thickness and doping profile to realize the non-SOI device; fabricating the non-SOI device in the device quality silicon layer using the non-SOI fabrication process selected; forming a support layer on the device quality silicon layer having the non-SOI device fabricated therein; and thinning the result of the last step using the SOI thinning process.

  • Patent number: 4375626
Abstract: A precision linear tuning circuit having particular utility to applications employing superconductors in a supercooled environment. Two capacitors, one fixed and one variable, are connected in parallel by an arrangement of shared, concentric electrodes. The variable capacitor includes one electrode and a movable facing dielectric which are tapered such that displacement of the dielectric results in a linear variation in tuning frequency.
