  • Patent number: 5774926
Abstract: A field of windshield wiper cleaning elements (10) is arranged above each wiper's resting position on a windshield (16). It includes several horizontal rows of slightly raised round dots or squares (11-15, 21-25) applied to the exterior surface of the windshield. The cleaning elements graduate from a maximum size along the bottom edge of the field, to a minimum size along the top edge of the field. The wipers scrape across the cleaning elements whenever they are operated, so that they are cleaned automatically. Cleaning effectiveness is improved by the graduated sizes of the cleaning elements. They are made by applying a ceramic ink on the windshield and firing the windshield, so that they are extremely durable.

  • Patent number: 5226199
Abstract: An intermittent wiper cleaning system for removing debris from the surface of a wiper of a windshield or the like formed as a clearing field including at least two rows of projections or depressions formed either in a base member or in the windshield. According to one embodiment, the projections and depressions are provided with full radius rounded ends. According to another embodiment the projections and/or the base member embody micro encapsulated concentrate to better clean the wiper and windshield. In any case the spacing is such that the projections or depressions of one row are arranged to be parallel to the projections or depressions of an adjacent row.

  • Patent number: 5007130
Abstract: A wiper cleaning system (2--2) for removing debris and other foreign matter from a wiper (11,12). The system comprises a plurality of discrete raised elements (23,24) spaced apart in two or more offsetting parallel rows (21,22) forming a brush like barricade in the path of the wiper. Variations are disclosed in which the elements are made integral with or are adhesively or otherwise secured to the windshield or other surface serviced by a wiper.

  • Patent number: 4934013
Abstract: A wiper clearing device (10,24) for removing debris and other foreign matter from a wiper (14). The device includes a series of angularly positioned obstructions (20, 22). In one variation the obstructions are projections (20) while in another variation the obstructions are created by depressions (22). The obstructions (20, 22) are arranged in a bird track like pattern which forms a barricade over which the wiper must pass. As the wiper passes over the barricade debris and other foreign matter is dislodged. Variations are disclosed in which the obstructions are made integral with the windshield or are adhesively secured to the windshield.
