  • Patent number: 4996150
Abstract: An immobilized biocatalyst suitable for fermenting to produce ethanol is prepared by mixing a biocatalyst such as a microorganism with a reaction product of a homogeneous dispersion of an anionic polysaccharide such as alginate and a cationic polymer such as polyethyleneimine, and combining the resultant dispersion with an oil phase to form beads. A surtactant may be present when combining the dispersion with the oil phase. A water soluble-oil insoluble curing powder includinga salt of a multivalent cation such as calcium chloride is mixed with the beads in the oil phase to gell and dehydrate the beads and to prevent the beads from adhering to one another until individual bead surfaces become hardened.

  • Patent number: 4310928
Abstract: A surgeon's glove which is free of mold release powder of mineral origin. The glove is "talc free" and contains on a surface a lipo compound and a surfactant for such lipo compound. The glove is manufactured by a process which includes coating a glove form with a coagulant containing the lipo compound and its surfactant in a dispersion which stay with the glove after it is stripped from the mold providing a mold release surface for such glove.

Date of Patent: January 19, 1982
    Assignee: American Hospital Supply Corporation
    Inventor: John J. Joung
  • Patent number: 4304008
Abstract: A powder free surgeon's glove of a material such as latex rubber, which has covalently bonded to its outer surface a halogen resistant layer, such as silicone. The inner surface of the glove has been halogen treated for smooth nontacky donning characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4302852
Abstract: A hypoallergenic surgeon's glove with an allergenic elastomeric support glove, such as natural latex, has secured to its inner surface by covalent chemical bonds a barrier glove of a nonallergenic elastomer, such as silicone. Sharp angular flexing in the knuckle area, as well as stretching and snapping during donning, does not crack the barrier glove nor delaminate it from the support glove. This hypoallergenic glove requires only about 1/3 the amount of lubricating donning powder in a natural latex glove. In another example, a slip resistant glove, such as silicone, is secured by covalent chemical bonds to an external surface of the support glove.
