Abstract: A push-pull tool for setting multi-piece fasteners includes a piston that is movable back and forth within a cylinder in response to fluid forces on opposite faces of the piston. One of the fluids is an air-oil foam mixture that acts essentially as an incompressible liquid force-transmitter, while being somewhat compressible so as to absorb shock loadings associated with rapid piston movements. A check valve is included in the system to admit atmospheric air into the air-oil foam mixture, to thereby partially compensate for oil leakage that might inadvertently take place across the piston seals.

Abstract: Method and Tool for removing a swaged collar from a pin member of a lockbolt type fastener by using a tool having a housing with an opening therein having opposite wall, one wall having a pair of fixed spaced blades extending longitudinally of the collar and the other opposite wall having a piston operated ram, whereby said ram forces said collar against said blades to cut through and spread said collar to separate the collar from the pin member.

Abstract: An installation tool, for setting fasteners by applying a relative axial pulling force via a nose assembly to the fastener, and having a pneumatic means operable from a low pressure to provide a high pressure to a hydraulic means via an intensifier means, with the pneumatic means being constructed of a molded lightweight plastic having the pneumatic circuits molded therein, and with the hydraulic means constructed of a different material, and including hydraulic surge dampener means and a generally, open in line hydraulic circuit, and having a removable wiper housing facilitating the use of different nose assemblies.
