  • Patent number: 5232090
Abstract: A fan having a rectangular frame including a bottom wall, two side walls, and a top wall, and a motor-driven impeller supported within the frame for causing air to move through the frame in an axial direction. The frame has at least one, and preferably two, stabilizing feet moveable between an extended position, in which each foot projects axially beyond the contour of the fan frame, and a retracted position, in which the foot does not project axially beyond the contour of the fan frame. Resilient elements, such as springs, constantly urge the stabilizing feet toward their extended positions. The stabilizing feet may be pivotally mounted on the fan frame, and stops are provided against which each foot abuts when the foot is in its extended position.

  • Patent number: 4877942
Abstract: A curling iron which has a handle, a barrel extending axially from the handle, a heater for the barrel, a spring-pressed, pivoted spoon for holding hair against the barrel, a spoon extension formed as part of and extending outwardly from the spoon, proximate to the handle, and a thumb button at the end of the spoon extension. At least the outer surfaces of the spoon extension and the thumb button are covered with a thermally-insulating plastic material, so that these surfaces are no longer hot to the touch. The inner surfaces are preferably not insulated; this permits heat conducted from the spoon to the extension to be harmlessly radiated away inwardly.

  • Patent number: 4623779
Abstract: An electrically-heated brush has a barrel formed of a pair of concentric, cylindrical sleeves defining a heat distribution plenum chamber therebetween, and with electrical heating means within the innermost sleeve. The teeth or bristles for the brush are molded on individual tooth bars and fixedly mounted between the two sleeves, with the teeth extending radially through holes in the outer sleeve.
