    Abstract: A tethering device includes a tether cord wrapped around a friction braked drum. The drum serves to store the cord when the tether is in a shortened condition for holding the animal in position on an elevated grooming table. Should the animal fall off the table, the cord is unwound from the drum to avoid injury to the animal.
