    Abstract: A prosthesis for replacing a defective stapes of the middle ear. A piston is provided for transmitting sound vibrations from the incus to the oval window of the middle ear. A clamp is securely attached to the piston for anchoring the piston to the incus. The clamp is capable of being easily bent to securely grasp the incus and is capable of maintaining that bent shape after the force causing it to be bent is removed.
