  • Patent number: 4034470
Abstract: A simple, compact multi-conductor tap-connector device incorporates at least three standard multi-contact individual connectors with the corresponding terminals in all of the connectors attached only by short wires running directly between the terminals. Various configurations of mating connectors can be fabricated by the same operations. The interconnecting wires form a unique latticework pattern which permits assembly of the device without the need for excess wire and gives the tap-connector device a degree of structural rigidity. Two forms of specialized apparatus suitable for inserting wires into terminal slots to establish electrical contact are used in assembly of the device.

  • Patent number: 4032211
Abstract: A tap connection for a multi-conductor cable is disclosed. This tap connection uses two standard separate multi-contact connectors. Cable wires connect corresponding terminals in each of the two connectors. A method and apparatus for assembling this tap connector is also disclosed. Pairs of cable wires are simultaneously inserted into corresponding slotted terminals in both connectors.

  • Patent number: 3987531
Abstract: Fixture for use in locating wires in wire-receiving jigs comprises a fixture block having an upper surface upon which locating bosses are provided for locating two wire jigs in parallel spaced-apart relationship. A slot extends into one end of the block and has an inner end which is between the locating bosses. A cable containing a plurality of wires is positioned in the slot with the cable axis extending normally of the upper surface. The wire jigs are positioned on the bosses and the wires can thereafter be positioned in the wire jigs. The cable can be located at different relative positions in the slot for different wiring configurations in the connector to which the wires are later attached.

  • Patent number: 3986256
Abstract: A wire positioning adapter for dressing wires from a multi-conductor cable to transverse terminal locations is disclosed. The adapter is used with a standard semi-automatic insertion apparatus which simultaneously attaches a pair of conductors to oppositely facing terminals. The adapter moves along a linear path with respect to the connector. Wires are laced across a wire positioning surface between the cable end and the terminals. The wires are allowed to longitudinally slip across this surface during movement of the adapter.

  • Patent number: 3935628
Abstract: Apparatus for inserting wires into terminals in an electrical connector having the terminals arranged in two parallel rows comprises a support plate having spaced apart side-by-side wire jig means thereon and having a connector jig means pivotally mounted between the wire jig means. Each wire jig means locates a plurality of wires in side-by-side parallel relationship with the wires spaced apart by distances which correspond to the spacing of the terminals in the connector. Each wire jig means has associated therewith inserting means so that wires in the jig means are inserted into terminals in one of the rows when the connector jig is swung against the wire jig.
