  • Patent number: 10584851
Abstract: A modular multiwavelength light source generates a highly cohesive beam of light from multiple light sources. The modular multiwavelength light source has a light-collating unit, a primary light source, and a secondary light source. The light-collating unit combines the light from the primary light source and the secondary light source into a single multiwavelength beam. The unit has a light-modification element a primary input coupler, a secondary input coupler and an output coupler which are in optical communication through the light-modification element. The primary input coupler and the secondary input coupler enable the primary light source and the secondary light source to be laterally mounted onto the light-collating unit and maintained in optical communication with the light-modification element. The primary input coupler and the secondary input coupler are angularly offset form each other.
