  • Patent number: 9552526
Abstract: A method of image processing using a cellular simultaneous recurrent network (CSRN) is provided. In particular, the method includes a processor that sets initial parameters of the CSRN and generates a target image based on the initial parameters. Then, a training process is executed to learn an image processing task. The training process performs an image processing task on one of a plurality of sub-images of an input image and then the sub-image is stored after the training process. The training process is then repeated until the image processing task has been performed on each of the plurality of sub-images of the input image. Once the training process is complete, an image transformation is performed on the input image and an output image is displayed based on the transformed input image.

  • Patent number: 5253765
Abstract: A system for sorting randomly oriented objects of various sizes based upon the size of the object includes a transport for conveying a series of objects from an input location to one of a plurality of output locations. An image system is disposed along the transport for capturing the image of each object to be sorted. An image processor detects the minimum and maximum linear dimension of each object based upon the captured image. The image processor further determines the shape of each object based upon the captured image. The minimum or maximum linear dimension is selected based upon the shape of the object. The object is categorized by size based upon the selected minimum or maximum dimension. Structure is provided for selectively routing the object based upon the categorized object size to one of the plurality of output locations.

  • Patent number: 5144566
Abstract: A print inspection method in which an area of printed material is optically scanned to obtain image data representing picture elements having variable intensity levels includes counting the number of picture elments at a particular intensity level in the area scanned to thereby generate a frequency distribution of the intensity level of the image data in the area scanned. The frequency distribution generated is compared to a stored reference frequency distribution of intensity levels of the image data. A statistical comparison with the reference data is utilized to determine whether or not the printed material is satisfactory.

  • Patent number: 4481165
Abstract: A system and method for handling and storing spent reactor fuel and other solid radioactive waste, including canisters to contain the elements of solid waste, storage racks to hold a plurality of such canisters, storage bays to store these racks in isolation by means of shielded doors in the bays. This system also includes means for remotely positioning the racks in the bays and an access tunnel within which the remotely operated means is located to position a rack in a selected bay. The modular type of these bays will facilitate the construction of additional bays and access tunnel extension.

  • Patent number: 4172619
Abstract: A pressure control valve for controlling the operation of spring-actuated fluid pressure released brake units in vehicle braking systems. The valve described requires less operating effort than for conventional control valves of this kind even those including a follow-up means. It has a plunger-type valve element slidable within the carrier and controlling the flow of fluid between inlet and delivery ports. The carrier is biassed towards an open position of the valve in opposition to a spring force by the delivery pressure and the valve element is responsive to delivery pressure to open the valve in opposition to another spring force. The carrier spring has a substantially greater rate than the valve element spring which can be adjusted so that the effort required to operate the valve can be kept to moderate limits while retaining the advantage of a follow-up valve action.

  • Patent number: 4135263
Abstract: Apparatus operative to selectively discharge substantially all or only a predetermined portion of the water within the flush tank of a toilet. The apparatus includes an open ended float having selectively regulatable venting ports for controlling float weight and buoyancy by the water-air ratio therein. The float is constructed in a size adaptable to most existing commode flush tanks and is assembled therein by attachment directly to the flush valve thereof. The float water-air ratio is then set into the desired flush mode by selective venting of the ports whereby an unweighted float will permit a full flush and a water filled float will drive the flush valve into a premature closure for discharging only a portion of the water within the flush tank.
