Abstract: A method and apparatus for driving a decelerating a multi-phase wound electric motor having a rotor and multiple phase coils arranged as a stator, wherein each phase coil has a first terminal and a second terminal, and the first terminals of the phase coils are connected together at a center tap. Commutation signals in response to BEMF voltages in the phase coils select a first and a second coil in each commutation state, such that when energized the first and second coils are capable of providing forward torque to the rotor based on the rotational position of the rotor relative to the phase coils. In each commutation state, the second terminal of the first is electrically connected to an upper voltage supply. For applying forward torque to the rotor, the second coil is electrically connecting the second terminal of the second coil to a lower voltage supply, wherein the upper voltage supply is at a higher voltage than the lower voltage supply.

Abstract: A motor driver circuit for a three-phase wound disk drive spindle motor having multiple phase coils and corresponding coil drivers, and commutation phase generation means responsive to BEMF voltage zero crossings of the phase coils for generating commutation cycle control signals for the motor phases.

Abstract: A current mirror circuit comprising a first controller for providing a first current path, the controller comprising a current reference means for providing a control signal corresponding to the current level of the first current path; a second controller for providing a second current path, the second controller comprising current control means for controlling the level of current through the second current path in response to the control signal; and a balancing circuit, connected in series with said current reference means in the first current path and with said current control means in the second current path, for maintaining a ratio of the level of currents through the first and the second current paths by providing substantially the same relative reference voltage level at first and second locations in said first and second current paths, respectively, while allowing said reference voltage level to vary.

Abstract: A last number redial device which provides a valid dialing sequence/access code test, before the contents of a last number redial register are disturbed, is described. A first and a second register are alternately loaded with a first, threshold portion (N) of a telephone number (N+M) during a dialing sequence. The number of digits entered are counted. If the count is greater than a threshold amount (N+1), a toggle signal is produced indicating a valid number has been entered. A second, terminal portion of the telephone number produced during the dialing sequence is thereafter loaded to a third register. In this way, the entire number is loaded in the selected first or second register and the third register. If a last number redial sequence is initiated, the selected one of the first or second registers and the third register provide an output to the telephone line of the last dialed number.
