  • Patent number: 11931298
Abstract: A variable compression cushion for eyewear includes a lattice structure made up of lattice cells defined by lattice elements. The parameters of the lattice structure may be configured to create a desired compressibility in the cushion. Different zones of the cushion may have different compressibility. The variable compressibility enables the cushion to be configured to optimize the face pressure experienced by a user when the eyewear is worn to enhance the comfort of the user. Some embodiments of the cushion also include structures to improve ventilation through the cushion. Some embodiments of the cushion also include structures that channel moisture away from the portion of the cushion that contacts the face of the user to improve user comfort.

  • Patent number: 6880604
Abstract: A sleeve label splicer apparatus is disclosed for splicing together a tail end of a roll of sleeve labels to a leading edge of a replacement roll of sleeve labels. The splicer apparatus includes a drive roller for driving and guiding the roll of sleeve labels and a backing roller cooperating with the drive roller such that the drive and backing rollers define therebetween a nip for controllably positioning the tail end of the roll of sleeve labels relative to the leading edge of the replacement roll of sleeved labels. The arrangement is such that the tail end is disposed in abutting relationship relative to the leading edge of the replacement roll. A splicing tape applicator is provided for applying a splicing tape to front surfaces of the abutting tail end and leading edge. Also, a further splicing tape applicator is provided for applying a further splicing tape to back surfaces of the abutting tail end and leading edge.

  • Publication number: 20020189764
Abstract: A butt splicer apparatus is disclosed for butt splicing a tail end of a roll having a first and second label mounted in series thereon with a leading edge of a new roll having a first and second further label mounted in series thereon. The apparatus includes a cutter for cutting through the tail end and a detector for detecting a location disposed along the tail end so that movement of the location past the detector generates a signal. The apparatus also includes a rotatable drive for driving the tail end relative to the cutter, the signal controlling rotation of the drive. The arrangement is such that the second label and the further second label are registered congruently relative to each other with the cutter disposed between the first and second label.
