  • Patent number: 8698333
Abstract: A power generating device for use with a plumbing fixture includes: a volute configured to receive water from a water supply pipe; a stator having a plurality of blades positioned around a circumference thereof positioned within the volute; a rotor positioned within the stator; and a generator coupled to the rotor. The volute directs substantially all of the water received from the water supply pipe in a circumferential direction through the plurality of blades of the stator to the rotor, thereby causing the rotor to rotate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 22, 2010
Date of Patent: April 15, 2014
    Assignee: Zurn Industries, LLC
Inventors: Jamie Glasser, Scott Grace, Steven R. Jones, John Kevin Schoolcraft, Robert Hill, John Bartee, Zack Blackmon, III
  • Patent number: 8000489
Abstract: A speaker module for a consumer electronics device encloses a speaker. The speaker module is sized to fit within a housing of the consumer electronics device and below an input control of the consumer electronics device. The speaker module is oriented so that the speaker projects audible sound through one or more interstitial gaps between the input control and the housing, or one or more through-holes formed in the input control.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 2006
Date of Patent: August 16, 2011
Assignee: Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB
Inventors: William Chris Eaton, Jason D. Mareno, John Kevin Schoolcraft

  • Patent number: 7714839
Abstract: A mobile terminal is provided for use in a wireless communication system. The mobile terminal comprising a housing having an opening and a selective input device. The selective input device includes a hub secured in the opening in the housing such that at least a portion of the periphery of the hub extends from the housing. A capacitance layer is integral with the periphery of the hub. A resilient ring is movably disposed on the periphery of the hub and operatively connected with the capacitance layer for generating signals when the ring is moved relative to the hub. A controller is operably connected to the input device for receiving and processing the signals.

  • Publication number: 20100066672
Abstract: An optical user interface is provided in a mobile communication device. Motion of an input mechanism of the mobile communication device is detected via an optical sensor. In response to detection, one or more properties governing the motion are evaluated based on input from a motion sensor. Control information is generated based on evaluation.
