  • Publication number: 20240077552
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for increasing a nuclear spin polarization of a target compound. In accordance with such systems and methods, a first non-thermal equilibrium nuclear spin polarization can be imparted to at least one source atom of a source compound, the source atom having a nuclear gyromagnetic ratio of at least 12 megahertz per tesla (MHz/T). A first solution can be obtained that includes the source compound and a target compound. The at least one source atom can be present in a source concentration of at least 0.1 molar (M) in the first solution. A second non-thermal equilibrium nuclear spin polarization of at least 0.01% can be imparted to the at least one target atom of the target compound via a nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) transfer of the first non-thermal equilibrium nuclear spin polarization to the at least one target atom.

  • Patent number: 8608203
Abstract: A device for preventing spray from emerging from the wheels of vehicles comprises a panel (4) that is adapted to be mounted substantially vertically behind a vehicle wheel (3) for receiving on a first side water released by the wheel (3) as it rotates. The panel (4) includes at least one passage (6) which leads from the first side to a rear second side of the panel (4). The or each passage (6) is other than normal to the plane of the panel (4). There is at least one water-collecting pocket (7A, 7B, 7C) along the side of the or each passage (6). In use, air and water enter the or each passage (6) and are separated so that air passes through the or each passage (6) and mixes with ambient air and water collects in the at least one water-collecting pocket (7A, 7B, 7C).

  • Publication number: 20050229631
Abstract: A receiver (24) for a condenser system (20) includes a body (32) in fluid communication with a header (28) of the condenser system (20). A first cap (38) is coupled to an end (34) of the body (32) and has a saddle portion (40) coupled to the header (28). The receiver (24) further includes a tube section (42) coupled to a second end (36) of the body. A second cap (50) is removably interconnected with the tube section (42) following insertion of a service cartridge (76) into the body (32). The service cartridge (76) includes a substantially-rigid tubular member (78) having rib members (84) radially extending from an outer surface (86) of the tubular member (78). Covers (90, 92), each having openings (94, 96), are coupled to opposing ends of the tubular member (78). The service cartridge (76) includes multiple features for drying, filtering, and/or leak detection.

  • Publication number: 20050126210
Abstract: A receiver (24) in a condenser system (20) includes a body (32) in fluid communication with a header (28) of the condenser system (20). A service cartridge (154) is insertable into an interior cavity (106) of the body (32). The service cartridge (154) includes a substantially-rigid tubular member (156). Covers (166, 168), each having openings (170, 172), are coupled to opposing ends of the tubular member (78). A spindle (179) is non-detachably coupled to each of the first cover (166) and a cap (180). The cap (180) is configured for threaded attachment to a service end of the body (32) of the receiver (24). Refrigerant 150 is received by the tubular member (156) via the first openings (170), and is discharged from the tubular member (156) via the second openings (172). The service cartridge (154) includes multiple features for drying, filtering, and/or leak detection.

  • Patent number: 5393295
Abstract: A scoring apparatus for use in imparting scores in paper products to reduce the occurrence of random yielding upon folding. The scoring apparatus includes a scoring member and a paper products platform member and is operably associated with a power source for forcing at least the scoring member, and the paper products into contact with one another. The scoring member includes a scoring profile having a scoring bead member for imparting scores in paper products and an integrated shoulder for partially crushing and weakening a portion of the paper products on one side of the resulting score line. The scoring apparatus creates a desired score line with a substantially weakened portion on one side of the score line, with a substantially unweakened portion on the other side of the score line--to substantially reduce the random yielding of the paper products during the folding of those paper products along the score line.

  • Patent number: 4881270
Abstract: A method and system for classifying a raster scanned target image by collapsing the image into a vector corresponding to a horizontal line of the image, mathematically transforming this vector into a feature vector which corresponds to the power spectrum of the collapsed image, and comparing the feature vector with stored decision rules corresponding to classes of possible target objects to determine if the image represents an object in one of the classes.
