  • Patent number: 8371877
Abstract: An electrical connector and method of forming the same are provided, where the electrical connector includes a printed circuit board configured to exhibit a first length L, a first width W, a thickness T, and a slot of a slot-width approximately equal to T, the slot also exhibiting a slot-length at least approximately equal to one-half of L. The printed circuit board includes at least a first signal trace, a second signal trace, and a ground plane, where the printed circuit board is configured to electrically isolate the first signal trace and the second signal trace from the ground plane. The first signal trace is configured to make electrical contact with at least a first electrically conductive cable. The electrical connector also includes at least a first contact pin affixed to the printed circuit board and coupled to the second signal trace.

  • Publication number: 20070026734
Abstract: A coaxial cable connector includes tubular post, a coupler secured over an end of the tubular post for securing the connector to an appliance, and an outer body secured to the tubular post. An electrical grounding path is maintained between the coupler and the tubular post whether or not the coupler is tightly fastened to the appliance. The electrical grounding path is provided by a resilient, electrically-conductive grounding member disposed between the tubular post and the coupler. Alternatively, the connector includes conductive grease at a point where mating portions of the tubular post and coupler have closely matching dimensions.

  • Publication number: 20060084286
Abstract: A multi-port, electrical connector (100) includes a housing (105) having cable ports (122-128) for coaxial cables (421-428) on a cable side (101) of the housing and male push-on ports (271-278) for female connectors (801) on a male side (202). Each cable port has nonstandard internal threads (160). Each coaxial cable is terminated with a cable adapter (120). A coaxial cable-cable adapter combination is removably secured to each cable port by a clamp nut (130) having nonstandard external threads (660). Each coaxial cable-cable adapter combination is individually field replaceable. Another multi-port electrical connector (1000) includes a housing (1005) having male, push-on ports (1021-1028) on a male side (1001) of the housing and printed wiring board (PWB) ports (1171-1178) on a PWB side (1102). Each PWB port includes a straight PWB pin (1181-1188) for insertion into a hole in a PWB (1301).

  • Publication number: 20060051997
Abstract: An electrical connector (800) for mounting in a mounting hole includes a body (804) and a mounting mechanism. The mounting mechanism includes a spring finger basket (806) that includes a base portion (808) and a plurality of spring fingers (809). Each spring finger (821-826) is commonly connected at the base portion and has a tip (812) at a free end opposite the base portion. The base portion is attached to an outer surface of the body adjacent to a flange (805) in the outer surface. The tip of each spring finger is spaced apart from the body. An end cap (818) is attached to the outer surface of the body. The end cap has an outer lip (819) limiting outward radial movement and permitting inward radial movement of the tip of each spring finger during radial movement of the body with respect to the mounting mechanism. A coil spring (404) is attached to the outer surface of the body. A shroud (827) is attached to the body adjacent to a front side of the coil spring.
