  • Publication number: 20060171835
Abstract: An improved muffler system for a compressor assembly where the muffler is disposed within the compressor housing and a peripheral edge of the muffler abuts, and expansively engages, the interior surface of the housing in an interference fit relationship. The compressor pump is attached to the muffler where the pump is substantially thermally and vibrationally isolated from the housing. The muffler, the compressor pump and the compressor housing define a series of chambers in which noise generated by the compressor pump is dissipated. The dimensions of the chambers are chosen to cause acoustical waves having specific, undesirable frequencies to cancel each other out.

  • Publication number: 20060002801
Abstract: A compressor assembly for compressing a vapor, including a compression mechanism having at least one piston reciprocatingly mounted therein and a motor operably coupled to the compression mechanism. A drive shaft is rotatively mounted in the motor. A rocker mechanism for converting rotational motion of the drive shaft into reciprocating motion of the piston is provided that includes a mounting plate, having an inclined surface, integrally formed with one end of the drive shaft. The rocker mechanism also includes means for linking the mounting plate and the piston so that when the drive shaft rotates, the piston reciprocates within the compression mechanism. The means for linking the mounting plate and the piston is operatively coupled to the mounting plate and is mounted directly to the piston. The means for linking the mounting plate and the piston may include a bearing, a flat plate, or a second plate having an inclined surface.

  • Patent number: 4986748
Abstract: An oxygen-fuel burner is disclosed which has a wide range of operation, allowing turn-down ratios of 5 to 1. In addition, the burner construction, which is not liquid cooled, maintains an acceptable burner tip temperature by having a tip which extends outwardly beyond the nose portion of the burner such that the oxygen flows columnarly therealong and functions to remove heat from the tip. In addition a delayed combustion is obtained by the gas discharge tip being axially spaced apart from the oxygen discharge orifice. The burner produces sufficient heat to permit the melting of batch materials to produce molten glass without the use of regenerators or recuperators.
