  • Patent number: 5233552
Abstract: The specification discloses a hand-held calculator of the type used by teachers in averaging grades. The calculator permits intermixed entry of letter grades and numeric grades in an averaging sequence. A weight table may be stored in the calculator for automatic nonlinear weighting of inputted grades in the averaging process. An excused absence key permits a data entry that will not affect the average of the other inputted grades. The calculator permits display in any one of a variety of modes, such as letter grade, percent, and total points.

  • Patent number: 4715011
Abstract: A calculator for use by teachers for rapidly and easily converting numeric scores into letter grades. The calculator includes a memory device for storing a user-defined set of numeric score ranges and the letter grades corresponding thereto. As individual student numeric scores are inputted, the calculator determines the range within which each numeric score lies and the letter grade corresponding thereto. In a preferred aspect, the score ranges are selectable by the user. In another preferred aspect, grade points are also calculated for the student numeric scores.

  • Patent number: 4048484
Abstract: A digital calculator particularly adapted for utilization by teachers in averaging a plurality of grades. The device employs a key board with letters, indicative of letter grades as used in the teaching profession, A+, A, A-, B+, etc. to E, and numbers 0 to 13, a regular calculator chip, circuitry for generating the numbers 10, 11, 12, and 13 and circuitry for decoding the letter grade from the digital output when letter grades are entered and after the grades are averaged. A counter is provided to keep track of the grades entered. All of the calculator chip features are retained at the key board so that the device can be operated as a regular calculator for arithmetic computations as well as averaging grades.
