  • Patent number: 11954022
Abstract: Provided are a storage device, system, and method for throttling host writes in a host buffer to a storage device. The storage device is coupled to a host system having a host buffer that includes reads and writes to pages of the storage device. Garbage collection consolidates valid data from pages in the storage device to fewer pages. A determination is made as to whether a processing measurement at the storage device satisfies a threshold. A timer value is set to a positive value in response to determining that the processing measurement satisfies the threshold. The timer is started to run for the timer value. Writes from the host buffer are blocked while the timer is running. Writes remain in the host buffer while the timer is running. A write is accepted from the host buffer to process in response to expiration of the timer.

  • Patent number: 11499558
Abstract: An electrical submersible pump (ESP) isolates its motor lubricant from pumped product without requiring a bellows, diaphragm, bladder, or external lubricant pressurizing system. A pair of nested isolation chambers below the motor housing are filled with a barrier fluid that is non-reactive, non-miscible, and higher in density than the pumped product and the motor lubricant. As the motor lubricant expands and contracts after pump start-up and shut-down, motor lubricant and barrier fluid are exchanged between the motor housing and the isolation chambers via three interconnections, while pumped product is exchanged with the inner barrier chamber, while being isolated from the motor housing. The interconnections extend between the bottom of the motor housing and the bottom of the outer barrier chamber, between the top of the outer barrier chamber and the bottom of the inner barrier chamber, and between the top of the inner barrier chamber and the pumped product.

  • Patent number: 7056238
Abstract: A hand-held offensive lineman training pad formed of a resilient inner pad and a close fitting outer cover has a generally T-shaped tapered configuration with flat front and back sides and a generally rectangular cross section. The generally T-shaped pad has a relatively wide upper portion and an elongate lower portion having opposed lateral sides that taper downward and angularly inward and terminate at a flat bottom end to simulate the framework of the upper torso of a defensive lineman with the wider upper portion simulating the shoulder pads of the defensive lineman. A pair of shallow generally rectangular recessed pockets on each of the elongate lateral sides of the pad receive the fingertips of the offensive lineman and approximate the proper hand placement for an offensive lineman to engage a defensive lineman. The pad is effective in training an offensive lineman in proper hand placement and executing various blocking maneuvers.

  • Patent number: 4793955
Abstract: A circular slit plate having slits therein that are symmetrically positioned and originate near the center of the plate and extend radially toward the outer diameter thereof is used to deaerate solid rocket motor propellant and to provide a uniform propellant flow distribution during rocket motor casting.

  • Patent number: 4594806
Abstract: A fishing lure shaped to provide a side to side movement which drawn through the water without spinning is formed from a flat metal blank having an elongate body portion defining a front end and a tail end with a pair of opposed fins extending outwardly from the sides. The front portion is turned downwardly and slightly spooned, the tail portion is turned downwardly so that the body portion as a whole is arched and the fins are turned upwardly at a shallow angle with trailing edges turned further upwardly.

  • Patent number: 4258608
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a snubbing device for use with traditional braided cordage. Traditional braided cordage exhibits a certain elasticity when tensioned by having the longitudinal axis of the braided cordage pulled in such a manner that the braid and resulting diameter constricts itself. In a double braided environment, an outer braid would constrict upon an inner braid, which would in turn constrict upon itself. A resilient elastic insert is provided within the inner core thereof, thereby causing the inner braid to constrict thereon.

  • Patent number: 4001869
Abstract: In an integrated circuit formed in a P-type silicon crystal body having an N-type epitaxial layer grown thereon, and having at least one bipolar transistor and at least one ion implanted resistor formed therein, a MOS type capacitor is formed requiring no additional processing steps beyond those normally required to form the resistor and the transistor. The capacitor comprises a first electrode of P-type material, a thin layer of silicon oxide grown simultaneously with the oxide through which the resistor is implanted, and a metal electrode over the oxide dielectric layer. The capacitor of this invention exhibits a relatively high capacitance per unit area of integrated circuit real estate and may be manufactured using only process steps that are required to form bipolar transistors and ion implanted resistors.
