  • Patent number: 5562039
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for mounting flexographic printing plate in registration onto a printing cylinder with a mounting bar and a carrier sheet having the plate mounted thereto. The mounting bar and the carrier sheet each have multiple openings which are located to assure consistent alignment between the bar and carrier sheet. The carrier sheet is secured in registration to the mounting bar by aligning the openings of the bar to the carrier sheet and inserting locking pins into the aligned openings. The method for mounting a flexographic printing plate further includes an apparatus for retaining an end of the carrier sheet to prevent its movement while drilling or punching the multiple openings.

  • Patent number: 5439328
Abstract: An apparatus for drilling holes in flexible materials used for flexographic printing includes a table which receives single sheets of flexible material which are to be drilled by a downwardly moveable drill. An optical mirror, TV-camera and monitor serve as viewing means to directly view the exact position on the surface of the material to be drilled. The optical mirror occupies a first position between the moveable drill and the flexible material, the first position being directly below the drill and directly above a target location on a single sheet. The optical mirror is retractable to a second position away from the path of the moveable drill, the optical mirror being replaced in the first position after the drilling is accomplished.

  • Patent number: 5103038
Abstract: Novel tetrasubstituted dicyanomethylene cyclopentadienes are provided which have utility as electron-transport agents in positively-charged electrophotographic elements. The compounds are characterized by the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1 and R.sub.4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl, halogen and cyano;R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently selected from the group consisting of aryl and substituted aryl; andZ and Z' are each an electron withdrawing group.

  • Patent number: 4973694
Abstract: A 6-tertiary amino-2-(Z.dbd.CH--)benzofuran dye is disclosed, where Z represents the atoms providing an electron withdrawing group and a conjugated methine linkage completing a resonant dye chromophore including the 6-tertiary amino group as an electron donor and the electron withdrawing group as an electron acceptor. The dyes are formed by condensing a 6-tertiary amino-2-formylbenzofuran with an electron withdrawing dye nucleus precursor containing an active methyl or methylene site. The dyes exhibit bathocromically shifted absorption peaks.

  • Patent number: 4876175
Abstract: A photographic imaging system is disclosed comprised of a hardenable organic component containing ethylenic unsaturation sites and coinitiators for ethylenic addition. The coinitiators include an activator and a photosensitizer. The photosensitizer is a 6-tertiary amino-2-(Z--CH.dbd.)benzofuran dye, where Z represents the atoms providing an electron withdrawing carbonyl or sulfonyl group and completing a conjugated methine linkage extending from the electron withdrawing carbonyl group through the benzofuran to the electron donating 6-tertiary amino substituent to form a resonant dye chromophore. The photosensitizers bathochromically extend exposure response of the imaging system.
