    Abstract: A digital certificate identifies an entity as having authority over the certificate to revoke same as delegated by the issuer. The certificate also has at least one revocation condition relating to possible revocation of the certificate. To authenticate the certificate, the identification of the delegated revocation authority, a location from which a revocation list is to be obtained, and any freshness requirement to be applied to the revocation list are determined from the certificate. It is then ensured that the revocation list from the location is present and that the present revocation list satisfies the freshness requirement, that the revocation list is promulgated by the delegated revocation authority identified in the certificate, and that the certificate is not identified in the revocation list as being revoked.

    Abstract: A rendering application determines that digital content is in an encrypted rights-protected form and invokes a Digital Rights Management (DRM) system which includes a license store having at least one digital license stored therein. Each license corresponds to a piece of digital content and includes a decryption key (KD) for decrypting the corresponding digital content. The DRM system locates each license in the license store corresponding to the digital content to be rendered, selects one of the located licenses, obtains (KD) from the selected license, decrypts the digital content with (KD), and returns the decrypted digital content to the rendering application for actual rendering.

    Abstract: An enforcement architecture and method for implementing digital rights management are disclosed. Digital content is distributed from a content server to a computing device of a user and received, and an attempt is made to render the digital content by way of a rendering application. The rendering application invokes a Digital Rights Management (DRM) system, and such DRM system determines whether a right to render the digital content in the manner sought exists based on any digital license stored in the computing device and corresponding to the digital content. If the right does not exist, a digital license that provides such right and that corresponds to the digital content is requested from a license server, and the license server issues the digital license to the DRM system. The computing device receives the issued digital license and stores the received digital license thereon.

    Abstract: Automated methods and apparatus for synchronizing audio and text data, e.g., in the form of electronic files, representing audio and text expressions of the same work or information are described. Also described are automated methods of detecting errors and other discrepancies between the audio and text versions of the same work. A speech recognition operation is performed on the audio data initially using a speaker independent acoustic model. The recognized text in addition to audio time stamps are produced by the speech recognition operation. The recognized text is compared to the text in text data to identify correctly recognized words. The acoustic model is then retrained using the correctly recognized text and corresponding audio segments from the audio data transforming the initial acoustic model into a speaker trained acoustic model. The retrained acoustic model is then used to perform an additional speech recognition operation on the audio data.

A statistical language model is generated from the text data. A speech recognition operation is then performed on the audio data using the generated language model and a speaker independent acoustic model. Silence is modeled as a word which can be recognized. The speech recognition operation produces a time indexed set of recognized words some of which may be silence. The recognized words are globally aligned with the words in the text data. Recognized periods of silence, which correspond to expected periods of silence, and are adjoined by one or more correctly recognized words are identified as points where the text and audio files should be synchronized, e.g., by the insertion of bi-directional pointers.
