Abstract: A compact action for a firearm including an upper receiver housing incorporating a barrel. A bolt and carrier are positioned within the receiver housing so that the bolt is engaged to a rear receiver end of the barrel in a cartridge chambering position. Guide rods are supported within the housing above the barrel and extend in parallel to a rear located end plate. The carrier includes a carrier key supported by and displaceable along the guide rods between the barrel and a rearward bumper component. A gas tube extends from a forward located gas block overlaying a gas discharge aperture in the barrel to a gas key for actuating the carrier rearwardly following discharge of a ballistic from the barrel. A fixed ejector is attached to the upper receiver, in combination with machining a slot into the carrier and the bolt, such that the ejector remains static such that, upon the bolt cycling, the spent shell casing contacts the ejector, causing it to be ejected out of the upper receiver.

A body of the magazine is engaged within the well and has a top, interconnected front, sides and rear walls, and a bottom defining a cartridge holding interior. A spring supported within the interior contacts the bottom and upwardly biases a follower positioned atop the spring toward an opening in the top, through which the cartridges are loaded into the magazine. A feed tower integrated into the top supports a pair of feed lips positioned along opposed edges defining the opening. An aperture is formed in the top rearward of the feed tower. A rear upward projection of the follower aligns with the aperture and, following discharge of a final cartridge, elevates above the top in order to actuate a separate bolt catch or bolt hold open adaptor to prevent a forward returning motion of the bolt.

Abstract: An improved gas impingement system including an upper receiver incorporating a barrel. A gas block is secured to a forward location of the barrel and includes a rearward extending portion shrouding a forward portion of a gas tube connected to the gas block. The gas tube is in communication with a gas port defined in the gas block extending to an interior of the barrel. The gas tube extends rearwardly from the gas block and communicates at a rear end with a key of a bolt carrier positioned within a firing chamber of the upper receiver. Upon discharging a ballistic from a cartridge contained within the chamber, pressurized gas resulting from the discharge is diverted through the gas port, gas block, and gas tube to the key, causing the bolt carrier to move rearward, with the rearward extending portion of the gas block both structurally supporting the gas tube and externally sinking heat from the gas tube.

Abstract: A kit and assembly for mapping out steps in a build process for constructing a model replica including a mapping key containing a plurality of symbols corresponding to different fabrication operations associated with the build process. One or more template boards are provided, each containing one or more replica parts and having a sub-arrangement or scheme of symbols drawn from the mapping key for providing a subset build step. Assembly of the foam board replica can be expedited, with or without reference to separate instructional videos which can be provided for any specific replica kit.
