  • Patent number: 5346607
Abstract: Stannous electrolytic tinplating baths utilized in flat-rolled steel tinplating operations contain non-filterable lead in solution at undesirable levels because of the lead content of commercially available tin anode materials. As taught herein, lead in the electrolyte is controllably incapacitated for deposition with the tin by chemical treatment of the bath which establishes, in solid phase, an insoluble bivalent metal compound having an affinity for lead which is adsorbed. In a preferred halogen-system embodiment, calcium fluoride presents an extended surface area for adhesion of lead and not only incapacitates lead in the bath for deposition purposes but also enables separation of such adsorbed lead from the plating bath as part of sludge removal.

  • Patent number: 5239988
Abstract: A cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) aid is disclosed. It is in the form of a wrist watch (10) having a set of auxiliary push buttons (13, 14 and 15). When a push button (13, 14 or 15) is pressed, audible signals are emitted from a beeper (16) at a rate dependent on which of the push buttons (13, 14 or 15) is pressed for use in timing external heart massage. The appropriate one of a set of push button lights (23, 24 or 25) associated with respective ones of the push buttons (13, 14 or 15) flashes in synchronism with the audible signals for timing CPR in noisy areas. The watch also records the elapsed time since the initiation of the CPR signals and the number of timing signals produced.

  • Patent number: 4619061
Abstract: A snowblower includes an auger having individual flat spring steel blades mounted on plates carried by a shaft. The blades are connected to the plates by a pivot pin and a shear pin so that on encountering a solid object the shear pin allows the blade to pivot while remaining attached to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4306675
Abstract: A grid-like article divider for packing cartons, of foamed plastic such as polyurethane or polyethylene, the divider having spaced parallel stringer panels and transverse panels hinged to the longitudinal panels, the divider being formed in collapsed condition from a solid slab of foamed plastic which is die cut with slits or cleavage to define the side faces of all of the longitudinal and transverse panels and holes, and with hinging sections arranged so that the plugs deformed at the holes drop out and the ends of the transverse panel swing against the longitudinal panels in the grid-like divider.

  • Patent number: 4291826
Abstract: A container designed for assembly without separable fasteners to comprise a leakproof receptacle or tray for use by meat packers and others. The container is formed from a single blank of corrugated fibreboard having a water-repellent surface. It comprises sides (23, 24) and ends (21, 22) rising from a bottom (10) orthogonally, and interconnected by webbed corners (25, 28). The ends are provided with flaps (30, 40) including lock tabs (31, 32, 41, 42) with tongues (33, 34, 43, 44) which cooperate with the flaps to hold the corners against the outsides of the ends, and the material is crushed, at the lower corners (110) of the container and at the points of action (120) of the tongues, to provide flexibility and prevent damage to the material at sharp folds.
