  • Patent number: 8040273
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a radar includes multiple antenna elements coupled to an image processing application. The antenna elements have a differing vertical spatial separation relative to one another and are configured to transmit a radio-frequency signal toward a stationary object and receive multiple reflected radio-frequency signals from one or more internal features of the building. The image processing application receives the reflected radio-frequency signals as the antenna elements are moved horizontally with respect to the stationary object. From these reflected radio-frequency signals, the image processing application generates imagery of the stationary object according to phase variations in the plurality of received radio-frequency signals. The imagery depicting vertical characteristics of the one or more internal features of the building.

  • Publication number: 20110148691
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) processing system includes multiple radar receivers and a corresponding multiple location determining devices communicating with a SAR processor. The SAR processor receives return envelopes from each radar receiver indicative of electro-magnetic energy reflected from a target of interest. The SAR processor also receives, from multiple location determining devices that are each configured with each radar receiver, a location signal representing the position of its associated radar receiver, and generates imagery of the target according to the received envelopes and the position associated with each received envelope.

  • Publication number: 20110030113
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a helmet is adapted to be worn on the head of a human wearer. An absorbing layer is adjacent to the helmet. The absorbing layer is configured to absorb at least a portion of a radio-frequency (RF) electromagnetic pulse. This RF electromagnetic pulse may originate from an explosion event, such as detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

  • Patent number: 7808984
Abstract: An apparatus for a service node used in a multimedia network. The apparatus has a data distributor circuit, and a decoder. The data distributor card has a data port for coupling with a data stream. The data distributor circuit has a relational code for determining whether an address field of a data packet of the data stream is intended for local distribution to peripheral devices by the distribution circuit. The decoder, in communication with the distribution circuit, has a virtual channel filter for filtering the address field to route the data packet to at least one data port, such as that associated with a peripheral device. An incorporator circuit is provided that is electrically-coupled to the data port to insert an address value having a relational code and a virtual channel code in a data input from the at least one data port. The incorporator then inserts the data input from the at leas tone data port into the data stream.

  • Patent number: 4182306
Abstract: A heat transfer device for transferring excessive waste heat from the upper portion of a fireplace to the room comprising a high temperature heat exchanger positioned above the fire grate between the fire and the flue of the fireplace. A mass transfer tube communicates between the heat exchanger and the low temperature heat exchanger positioned above the lintel on the fireplace. A heat transfer fluid is secured within the hollow high temperature heat exchanger such as trichloromonofluoromethane such that as the fluid boils, the heat of the fire the liquid turns to a gas and moves through the mass transfer tube to low temperature exchanger. The fluid cools and gives up its heat to the low temperature exchanger which in turn gives up the heat to ambient air. As the fluid cools, it becomes a liquid again and flows back down the transfer tube from which it came to the high temperature exchanger.
